Default The Powerplay

Honestly I think this has been a key reason to not winning at least half of the 8 losses this year and part of the reason why its struggling is the new addition of Hamilton paired with Brodie being on the shelf to start the season and Gio being away from game action for so long, the flow on the backend PP has been beyond annoying this year.

How do we turn this around?? I think we have been deflated by bad goals/defence this year for sure but how many times have we jumped out to early leads to then get one or numerous chances on the PP only to piss away the opportunities with bad stretch passes and terrible zone entries.

If we can start producing on the PP I think we start winning more games because we are seeming to bring our game at even strength the last 5 or so games and we are playing head to head with the opposition now and starting to dictate the pace of games when 5 on 5. If only we could score on those powerplay opportunities, it would help the team build on the confidence they seem to gain through first periods this year.

Gaudreau should never sit on the bench during a powerplay.

Hamilton-Brodie pairing seemed pretty good during the PP last game.

I almost agree with that, he never really looks gased out there and would definitely have the conditioning to last 1:30 anyways on the PP if not the entire duration. It would be awesome because you we see a lot of different Gaudreau combo's through out the game.

We're 21st in the league at 14.7% last year we finished at 18.8% good for 13th, so there's definitely room for improvement.

A significant difference is out PP vs PK time compared to last year. So far this year we've drawn 34 powerplays and had 59:17 of PP time. However, we've already had 67:09 of PK time for a difference of -7:52 between PP and PK.

Last year, as was well publicized this summer, we finished the year with +123:08 PP time compared to PK time.

The fact that we're taking more penalties than last year, drawing fewer powerplays, and that our PK is only at 76.9%, 23rd in the league is much, much more troubling than our PP numbers.
