Former U.S. senator and actor Fred Thompson passes away

Mostly a character actor but a very good one IMO, I actually met him in Toronto at the 1989 molson indy, he was a guest of Paul Newman and I had a pit pass due to being a volunteer for the track set up, Newman didn't give me the time of day but Fred was very talkative and seemed very interested in other parts of Canada, he told me he was a lawyer trying to be an actor he left out the part where he was involved in the watergate scandal

I still remember when Michael Andretti(Newman's driver) won the race I couldn't see a damn thing because Fred was in the way, he was a very large guy, probably about 6'6.

For those who have no clue who he was I'm sure you'll recognize his pic.

I'll always remember him doing a good job avoiding panic in Washington Dulles airport, but then that SoB "Dick" Thornburg ruined everything.
