Temptation could be too high not to play with the score. Since I've seen this video I saw a few pop ups of other videos stating the same. Also, I honestly never thought about it until I saw the above video. One commenter says the NFL tickets say "Sports Entertainment" and not "Sports Event". I must admit, I'm intrigued.
Besides, there is a big difference between the NFL fixing games and players doing so, not that I'm suggesting that happens. With ubiquitous replays do you think a player would actually signal an opposing player?
No...While I'm sure there has been some fixing, maybe a ref paid or a scandal like we saw with deflategate, its not the WWE. People shout fixing for every major sports league though.
On second thought, Newton jumping away from the fumble....hmmmm

See, rubbish was my first reaction as well. I thought about this for almost a day before posting and it reminds me of the little things when the WWF tried so hard to convince the fans that it was real.
The dollar amounts available through gambling ON ONE GAME alone are ridiculous (4.1 Billion)! The TV deal for the NFL was $27 billion or 3 billion a year on average annually. I really don't think it's as easy to dismiss as you seem to be able to do.

No player who has spent his entire life working his way to the biggest league in the world would be okay with playing fake football. For most of the guys it's not about the money, it's all about the competition
Games being influenced by refs or certain types of tampering sure, it probably happens in most leagues. But there is no way players are signalling to each other and in on some big WWE-like scam and all keeping it a secret
Of course its rigged, that's why the Patriots won after 9/11!

I want to believe you, but then you watch the ESPN 30/30 about their money problems and I'm not sure that most of those guys don't love money more than the competition.
I'm really just being facetitious. I don't think that the NFL is rigged, and it would take a lot of those videos like the one above to really convince me it was even a concern.

Heh, if every missed tackle required the ball-carrier to give a signal about where he wanted the tackler to miss, then I think we'd have much more convincing videos than this. If you wanted to rig the NFL, you could do it at a coach/referee level, and the players would never even know they were playing a rigged sport.
