Default Calgary in the midst of a gang turf war

...according to police.

There’s a deadly conflict over drugs and guns piling up bodies on our city’s streets — one reminiscent of a decade-long gang war police had thought was over.

They’re two of 71 shooting incidents in Calgary in 2015 so far — roughly 10 instances each month.

Staff Sgt. Quinn Jacques of the Calgary police guns and gangs unit said it isn’t the FOB versus FK street war from 2002 to 2009 all over again but it isn’t far off. “The tactics we’re seeing these guys use are certainly either borrowed from or derived directly from the old FOB and FK conflict,” Jacques said.

“But these groups now, they absolutely do not identify. There’s no names. There’s no nicknames for the groups.

Some familiar faces are showing up in police investigations into Calgary’s brewing turf war over drugs and guns.

Many of the players, however, are people Calgary police have never encountered before.

Some don’t even have criminal records yet, Staff Sgt. Quinn Jacques of the guns and gangs unit said Friday, after police acknowledged organized crime is alive and well in the city.

“Just when I think we have a pretty good grasp on things there’s some kind of game-changer that we have to adapt to,” Jacques said.

Piling up bodies on our city's streets?

Come on, that's a little overdramatic, even for the Sun.

About a month ago I was driving home from the movies and some guy ran out in front of my car to chase down a guy on the other side of the street. He was screaming and had some sort of baton type thing.

First time I ever seen anything like that in Calgary

Ridiculous statement. You know innocent bystanders will get hurt or killed when these maniacs go nuts. It can't be stopped but needs to be controlled.

For real?
You have families and friends of those killed and hurt who also suffer from these acts.

Also, in before someone blames the NDP.
