Edmonton couple selling bottled Banff air
Really?

Living so close to the Canadian Rockies, we often take the fresh air afforded to us for granted.
But it turns out the pure, mountain air is quite the commodity, and two Edmontonians are taking advantage of that.
Moses Lam and Troy Paquette are selling bottles of air from Banff and Lake Louise, compressing the air in canisters and shipping it worldwide.

I saw Chinese tourists at the Bow Falls in Banff about a year ago wearing SARS masks. I guess that mountain air isn't quite clean enough for them.

I imagine people would have laughed 30 years ago if you told them you could get rich selling bottled water.

It's not uncommon for them to wear masks if they are sick or getting over a sickness as consideration for others.

Yeah, I think thats one thing people fail to realize, they are actually doing it for those around them. It's actually quite a nice gesture.

Don't believe it.

It is, I'm not sure how air would fit into that.
But this also fits into my evil plan of collecting rocks from Canmore, driving into Banff and selling "official Rocky Mountain Rocks" to the tourist.

Severely over priced rocks at that too. Walking into rocks and gems as a tourist is severely detrimental to your bank accounts health.
Not sure what the going rate is for black market street rocks though. might be a good time to get an unmarked van and start hocking them out of the parking lot beside keller foods.

Is it really that? A few days ago I saw a young Asian couple waiting at the Halifax airport, one minute they were "smooching" and the next she was wearing a mask.. I thought it was very strange.
In any rate it seems the SARS scare has had a lasting effect on the Chinese.

Yeah that is what it is. It has nothing to do with SARS, they wear them when they are sick in general to prevent spreading it through coughing or sneezing.
Ever kissed your significant other while sick?

Yeah, it's most likely that they were just trying to stop their own cold from spreading.
http://www.healthguidance.org/entry/...cal-Masks.html
Quote:
Despite many thinking that these masks are aimed at combating the harmful effects of pollution, the main reason that many Asian people wear surgical masks is actually to prevent the spread of colds. In Japan it is considered 'polite' to wear these masks if you are suffering from a cold in order to prevent it from spreading and it's now quite popular as a result.

So, when Hong Kongers get a cold or flu they tend to don their face mask, both to stop the disease spreading and in case they are carrying something more serious than a simple cold.
