Even after the amazing year he and Gio both had, I feel like Brodie doesn't get enough credit for how good he really is. Can't believe we have him locked up for 5 years at $4.65M. It feels like a steal already.
Brodie is one of the players that features a lot of clips that may not look particularly flashy at first glance. For example at 12:12 vs the Coyotes the Flames dump the puck out of the defensive zone and Brodie explodes up the ice to chase down the dump-in all by himself... as a defenceman. I also loved his shift vs Montreal (04:24) where he's seemingly the only player on the ice moving. Hrudey and the Flames broadcasts in general really started to emphasize just how solid TJ is defensively... and his ridiculous breakout passes... and his skating... and on and on.
My planned order for the next videos: Bouma, Backlund, Rookies, etc.
So many great clips in there... that poke at Galchenyuk and the quick transition to offense / picturesque pass was a thing of beauty. So many instances of him carrying the puck up the ice to deep into the offensive zone followed by him being one of the first back on the back-check.
Is it safe to say in the last year or two that he's moved from one of the best young defensemen in the league to one of the top defensmen in the league? I think he's got to be in the top 30 at this point. Such a great player and an amazing skater.
It's crazy to think we have Gio, Brodie and Hamilton as our top 3 defenders.
Wow...you know Brodie is good but some how it seems like so much that he does flys under the radar. When you actually get to watch a whole video of highlights..I'm speechless. He's incredible in every aspect of the game.
