Default Bobcat rentals in Calgary

Looking to rent a Bobcat (or any other skid steer) this weekend to do some landscaping. I'm tired of calling guys who own bobcats to have promises of showing up, then going MIA. What I want to do isn't complicated, and I've driven Bobcats before.

I just need a small one, like an S70. Found a place in Okotoks; however they want more for delivery than the 1 day rental. I have access to a truck, but their bobcats don't include trailers.

Any suggestions?

I've always gone to Okotoks rentals. Not sure if that's the one you mentioned, I've found them easy and cheap to deal with, maybe look into renting a trailer from somewhere else like greenwood or something. Something like $125/day for the trailer, and I'd guess like $250/day for a Deere 318D from Okotoks Rentals. Probably knock $50 off that price for a smaller Bobcat

$375 isn't too too bad for a day, mind you that's picking it up yourself. Can always try the bigger guys like United, Cervus or Cat but not sure if they do day rates, it's worth a shot. Although likely more expensive.

Yes, it was Okotoks Rentals. Looks like Rogers has a better delivery charge, so I'll be going with them.

I've rented a few things from Rogers and they have been good to deal with.

I tried Home Depot. They told me their bobcat was "not rentable."

I rented one earlier in the year from the Cat Rental store and it cost me about $700 for 2 days. Half the cost was delivery and pickup. Are you sure Home Depot doesn't rent them out, I was under the impression they did and that's who I'd go with if I were to do it again.

One tip, ensure the unit is full with diesel when returning it. Those things suck the fuel back and they charge double the price if they have to fill it up.

Rogers was upfront about their diesel being $2 per litre. They also told me the size of the tank, and how much fuel I would likely use. The cost of me buying a diesel jerry can, plus the time in going to the gas station, I would save maybe $10-20.

Regarding Home Depot- yes I am sure that is what I was told. I was actually calling to see if they took reservations; because the last time I rented from them they did not. Rogers is willing to take a reservation, and are flexible in delivering when I want. That means my 24 hour "day" is the time when I will want to use it.

Yah HD Tool Rental doesnt have any reservations for any item in store.

First come first serve. All Home Depots would have one so if you tried Okotoks then S Calgary location might work for you.

Not rentable means its waiting for their 3rd party company to fix the device as they routinely break down.

The outside equipment (other than vans) are the only thing Home Depot doesnt own, its owned by a 3rd party company who does the maintenance and HD is just the middle man.

If you do find one make sure you bring your own break light adapters as well as a differing selection of ball mounts. They dont have either at home depot so if your truck doesnt fit their trailer you are SOL, same with the break light adapter.

I have gotten away with driving it away with only flags on the back but thats only if you get a newbie working there.

I just thought I'd follow up here with my experiences with Rogers Rent All. I have to say I was thoroughly impressed with every aspect of the rental. Great customer service, and good product. They really know their stuff, the took the time to explain anything I wanted to know, and got back to me exactly when they said they would. For example, the delivery was scheduled between 3-6pm. I asked if they could call when they were leaving so I would know if I had to leave work early or not. Yep, got the call at 2:30 that they were loading it up, and would be there in 45 minutes.

It is so rare to find such good customer service any more, and these guys just excelled. I had to rent a post hole auger, and even though they are further away than other places, I am picking it up from them as well. Both from the service level, but also because I could make a reservation yesterday to pick up today. Most other places wouldn't do that.
