Default Puck Daddy: The Calgary Flames from A to Zed

Puck Daddy is doing a 30 team history lesson for the dog days of August. It's Calgary's turn today. Don't worry, it's Lambert free!

https://ca.sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nh...043631539.html

I found it a decent read and it brought up a lot of good Flames memories.

Enjoy (and discuss)!

This was great OP. Thank you. I enjoyed it and my son really will too.

Loved the first picture of the Atlanta Flames - still really like that logo and threads.

Kind of wish Burke and his scarf did not make the cut. I don't mind Burke but other members of management have made bigger contributions and still have "uncompromising personalities". I guess I just can't stand the tie as a scarf thing - it really does bother me.

Interesting. I never noticed the before the alternate "A" or Adirondack "A" being the original Atlanta Flames logo. Cool.

Shout out to OP for mentioning no Lambert, as I would have never clicked the link otherwise.

Very much enjoyed that. The ol'Iggy videos hit me right in the feels. (and then had to go look up Iggy's return to the dome)

Thanks for sharing.

Yes, she brought back a lot of fond memories for me, but she did mess up the C of red part. That originated in the 80's, not 2004, and was actually the inspiration for the Winnipeg whiteout.

Fun read, but I was thinking this too.

I can't remember the year, but if memory serves, the first C of Red game was after Edmonton had this 'Hat Trick Fever' promo. Everyone had these silly paper hats on. As the camera panned the Oiler crowd, I remember Don Whitman mentioning something like the 'Calgary fans will respond with a sea of red'.

That was the 1986 playoffs. The Oilers were going for their third straight Cup, hence the "Hat Trick Fever".
