Global Microsoft outage hits airlines, banks and businesses
My system is down too, where I work. This is going to be a long day. Is this effecting anyone else?

Yeah people heading into the office to get their laptops fixed.
I'm on macOs so no problems with me though half our Windows servers are dead.

Not Microsoft this time, it's Crowdstrike.

Hit us hard, brought down our MFA services which rely on Azure. We're in the middle of trying to bypass that just so users can login

1. Boot Windows into safe mode
2. Go to C:\Windows\System32\drivers\CrowdStrike
3. Delete C-00000291*.sys
4. Repeat for every host in your enterprise network including remote workers
Yup that works.. have enough servers to make this annoying but not enough to try and figure out some way to automate it.

If we were to attempt that, would we have to undo it when things get fixed? I don't want to mess with stuff and make a bigger problem.
Or is this something I shouldn't touch since it's my pos provider that is affected?

I assume it is your services that don't work, and not your own systems? If it is the POS provider you can only wait for them to fix it.

OK, did you try rebooting? Ok, now do that 15 more times.
The absurdity of some IT solutions never fails to make me giggle.

I don't think you would have to undo it, presumably the CrowdStrike systems will either download a new file or a replacement for that file that doesn't have the problems and things will work ok after that.
Not 100% sure of that but pretty sure.
