Default Oops... $6M Calgary Bridge doesn't fit...

http://cnews.canoe.ca/CNEWS/Canada/2.../22205161.html

CALGARY -- Oops. A $6 million pedestrian bridge that was supposed to be installed in Calgary over the weekend wasn't -- because it didn't fit.

...

On Twitter Tuesday evening, area Councillor Druh Farrell posted: "Reminder: Measure twice, cut once! Shaganappi pedestrian bridge delayed for a few more weeks due to contractor designer error."

This is what happens when you get a bunch of foreigners to do your welding rather than choosing highly-skilled locals...

Good call.
Let's blame he mayor for this one.

Why wasn't he personally reviewing engineering drawings, and doing QC checks with a measuring tape to make sure this thing got built properly.

Freaking Nenshi, always sleeping on the job.

The Nenshi crack is a joke, and a poorly done one as everyone knows it's not "Spenshi" but "Spendshi".

Step your game up!

What we have learned from this bridge is it isn't just Graham that can mess bridges up, PCL is perfectly capable of it too.

Yeah I failed haha.

Yeah this sort of stuff happens all the time in construction. I remember when they were building a Stoney Tr overpass on AB2 and the concrete didn't have enough clear cover. That caused the entire side section to spall and reveal the reinforcement within a matter of weeks (if I remember correctly).

Sean Chu would have never made this mistake. Silly Hall needs to get it's act together.

Too busy waiting on apologies and obsessed with bike lanes. No time for bridge fittings for that little go-getter.

Unfortunately she is now. I voted against her in the last election. She's the ward 7 alderman.

Well I'll be damned. She is the Councillor in that area. I thought that area was part of Ward 1. Who drew these Ward boundaries? How does Druh keep getting these expensive bridges for her people?

Noted gerrymanderer Andre Chabot. No, really. Sadly.
