Default U20 camp: Canada vs Czech Republic. 5:30 MT. TSN

Projected Lines for Canada:

Perlini-Point-Konecny
Debrusk-Bleackley-Virtanen
Sadowy-Chartier-Hawryluk
Beauvilllier-Barzal-Aube-Kubel

Fleury-McKeown
Hickey-Juulsen
Chabot-LeBlanc

unclear who will be starting in net, but with Montembeault practicing with this group the majority of time, you would have to think he would start

The Czechs have brought these players:

G: Vitek Vanecek, Karel Vejmelka

D: Tomas Havlin, Ondrej Miklis, Filip Pyrochta, Alex Rasner, David Sklenicka, Jan Scotka, Jakub Zboril

F: Jindrich Abdul, Tomas Andres, Jiri Cernoch, Tomas Gres, Filip Chlapik, Lukas Jasek, David Kase, Jakub Kotala, Filip Kutak, Jan Ordos, Michael Spacek, Radek Vesely, Daniel Vozenilek

Zacha is not participating in the Czech camp because he does not have a contract in North America or Europe and does not want to risk injury without one.

Pastrnak and Vrana have a high chance of not being made available for the WJC and are likely not at the camp so the Czechs can look at other players.

Haha, they really did do everything they could to make these games empty. Sell ticket packages so everyone just pays the cheap price and goes a couple times when they feel like it. 5:30 local start on a work day? Don't mind if we do!!!

There's like nobody there.

Canada a little disjointed to start this game.

Little flow.

Brayden Point is a very talented player. What a beautiful play to get the puck to Virtanen on that second goal.

EDIT: And on the flip side - I have not been impressed with McKeown so far. He really looks like he's a step behind the play.

Up until his goal Hickey didn't look great or bad. Canada's defence was having trouble with the Czech forwards in the 1st period.

It has been the Brayden Point show so far.

Yeah, up until his goal he's been playing conservatively. Seems like he doesn't want to make a mistake but that's not the way to make this team. His partner seems to be doing all the work in the defensive zone.

Hickey has played solid but hasn't jumped out. However, he's made a couple of great outlet passes and jumped right into the play on his goal, which is what the Canadians are looking for in their dmen. He's got more to show though imo.

I missed the first period, but from what I saw Hickey barely saw any ice time.

I watched it all and I agree with you. His defensive partner saw some power play time, but not Hickey.

Yeah and from what I saw Juulsen also took shots from the point every chance he got. Hard to make an offensive impression when you never get a pass in the offensive zone

Might be just me, I was actually really impressed with Hickey prior to the goal. I threw out the following tweet after Point's 2nd period goal:
"#Flames prospect Brandon Hickey has that Je ne sais quoi - that look - simply of a player. Smart, simple play lead to last G."

The goal for me was a bonus. I thought he was Canada's 3rd best player behind Point & Konecny.

Indeed, it was the Brayden Point "Machine" show.

I'm not sure if you could pick up on it on TV, but Hickey was extremely vocal the whole time. I was up in row 11 and could hear most of what he was saying, and it was constant. Quite enjoyed that.
