God that was such a bad contract. Only question is whether he chooses a low-value 'show me' deal with another team, or if he goes back to Russia.

I wonder how he has materially breached his contract?

Ouch - that's 2.33M cap hit per year for 6 years, if my math is right

Semin on a 1 year show me contract sounds like a risk worth taking.

I wouldn't mind seeing him here on a one year contract to be honest

Semin, oh how the 'mighty' have fallen.

Remember him beaking Crosby? "What's so special about [Crosby]? I don't see anything special there."

Hahahahahahaha

He's done in the NHL. He'll get more money in Russia.

That may not matter much. IIRC, the Canes operate on an internal budget already. They aren't likely to cap out.

Or he could finally follow his true passion. Playing the bongos.

Semin wouldn't be a fit on this team at all. Players on the Flames work hard every shift

All these buyouts right before Free Agent day should be a warning to GMs.

Why is Florida buying-out Brad Boyes? He only has one year left on his contract.

$2.625 million for 17 goals and 37 points a season isn't bad.

David Alter @dalter
The $2.333 mill cap hit annually that a Semin buyout comes with will be the largest annual cap hit in NHL buyout history.
