Default 2015 Hall of Fame class: Lidstrom, Pronger, Fedorov, Housley, Ruggerio

Quite the group, all deserving.

Lidstrom, Pronger, Fedorov, Housley and Ruggerio are the Hall of Fame class for 2015.

Hay and Karmanos are also in the class of 2015.

A joke that Pronger is included without having filed his retirement papers, but impossible to argue he doesn't merit it.

He definitely should be in eventually, but Pronger shouldn't even be eligible yet.

All of them deserve it. Some will argue Pronger but we all know he is never going to play again.

But Pronger was just traded....
I would think alteast wait for his contract to be done before putting him in the Hall.

That being said.. He deserves to be there.

And I think that the year following the expiration of his contract or the filed retirement papers he should be fast-tracked to the Hall.

Maybe you're right though. He does deserve it. And really, in the grand scheme of it all, what does it matter?

Almost a non-news story except for the small controversy that Pronger isn't exactly retired.

Good group. Except I had to look up Ruggerio.

Yeah, thats a helluva group. How many can they take per year, 3?

These are all slam-dunks, the Pronger contract status notwithstanding.

It probably matters to the people paying him...

A guy like Zubov could've used that spot Pronger is taking this year.

If he's going to be fast tracked anyway, just let him in now. He's one of the greatest defensemen of all time, and a CBA technicality shouldn't prevent him from being a first-ballot Hall of Famer and going in with Nik Lidstrom.

For players, up to four men and two women, IIRC.

In what way? That they are paying for a guy that they would have paid anyway (because he's never going to leave that money on the table), and now he will be in the HHOF?

Maybe, but if this is technically Pronger's first ballot I think he deserves that honor over Zubov.

Guys who were not elected in but could get in soon: Mark Recchi, Paul Kariya, Alexander Mogilny, Eric Lindros, Sergei Zubov, Jeremy Roenick, Sergei Makarov, Dave Andreychuk.

Because if he was officially retired, they wouldn't have to pay him. And I think we were all under the impression that someone has to be officially retired to be entered into the hall.

So if I owed a guy, who is no longer playing for my team due to injury, many millions of dollars, unless he retired, and he doesn't retire but the is allowed to do retiree things, yeah, I'd be kinda choked.

It's nit-picking I suppose but does Pronger not deserve to get in before Lindros as a 1st balloter? I think he does. Lindros was great but he never did what Pronger did. Not even close.

Also in: Bill Hay, the Flames president before Ron Bremner (and Ken King).

Why isn't Dave Andreychuk in the Hall of Fame yet?

Perhaps a little irritated, but it doesn't really change anything from either perspective . Money that was always going out is still going out. It wouldn't if was officially retired, but I don't think that was ever a likely option anyway.
