Miller is Bennings guy so this doesn't surprise me even though I think Lack is the better goalie. Age and the fact that hes a UFA next year must have played into the fact that he got so little compared to Lehner

Benning for whatever reason has stressed having a veteran goalie, which is why he signed Miller when many thought last summer they should just go forward with Lack/Markstrom

I think the Canucks think Markstrom has more potential but he's definitely a bigger risk/reward, hes been a disaster in the NHL but was arguably the best goalie in the AHL last year

I don't mind trading Lack, I like him and think he's a number 1, but he's never going to be a top 5 guy, to me he's 15-20 range

and with the goalie market pretty much set, it's been proven that there's always going to be too many goalies for not enough spots.

So if they need to move a 2nd/3rd in summer 2017 to get a decent goalie because Markstrom, or maybe Demko, aren't ready, it's not exactly an huge payment that's needed

still wish it was a 2nd though but glad Benning at least got something, one of these teams trying to move a goalie is going to be stuck because the amount of suitors is running out

If that's true, that's got to be a really disappointing return for Canucks fans. It seems like after the first goalie goes, the market for them really softens.

If Lack went for that, what would Talbot be worth? Pretty much the same thing?

Yeah, considering what Lehner got that has to be a pretty big disappointment for them. Doesn't even save them any cap space as I imagine Markstrom will end up getting paid about what Lack was.

Wow. Vancouver just hates goaltenders. Loungo, Schneider, Lack. All real starting goaltenders that they've given up in the last couple of years. Choose to go with an aging and unspectacular Ryan Miller. Really terrible decisions in net. I don't think Vancouver has liked a goaltender since Kirk McLean.
