Icon59 Rangers trade Talbot to Oilers for 3 picks

Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie
Looks like NYR are trading Cam Talbot to EDM for three picks.

So the Oilers are going to draft 1st overall, then never again?

Not as many good picks as I hoped Edmonton would move, but I'm lovin' that!

If Talbot continues to play the way he did for the Rangers then that's a great deal for the Oilers. But with that atrocious defence in Edmonton compared to the Rangers then he is set up to fail.

Good deal for the oil, but after bombing the Reinhart deal I still have a sour taste in my mouth.

Rather Talbot go there than Gibson.

I think this has the potential to be a good deal for the Oilers.

No problem with this at all. Edmonton has traded almost their whole draft (other than #1) for Ben Scrivens v2.0 and a 4-6 dman who may not even be ready to step in next year, and if he does, will be cannon fodder. Love it.

Heheh, Fasth and Scribbles all over again. Kills it for a few games on a good team and gets fed to the dogs in Edmonton.

Talbot is better than Scrivens, but let's be honest, if Scrivens was on another team he would have very good backup numbers. The real culprit in Edmonton has always been team defense and the actual quality of defensemen. Evidenced by Devan Dubnyk.

Klefbom-Ference
Fayne-Reinhart?
Schultz-Nikitin

Talbot

It's not the worst I've ever seen, but it really needs an upgrade in the top 4. They will probably at least be competitive.

That's the hope and the prayer for all the Oiler fans when it comes to goalies they've picked since signing bad-backed Khabibhuln to a long term deal.

Really, the statement also applies to any of the guys coming from other teams; the middling/desperate free agents or trade acquisitions, over the past 5 years...and the results in that time speak for themselves.

Just another goalie who is going to get victimized by the Oiler's horrible defense and defensive structure

Oilers going all in after picking McDavid. This could backfire badly in 3-4 years if the ship hasn't been saved, it's time re-sign McSavior, and there are no cheap players/prospects in the system...
