Friedman: Flames a good fit for Kessel?
he speculates in this video yes:
http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/f...it-for-kessel/
Have fun discussing and weeks of rumors from Toronto media and Bennett for Kessel proposals from Leafs fans.

Even then no. Do not want $8M of cap space tied up in Cheeseburger Phil for the next 7 years.

Taking a while to get to 5000

He's a better fit in Nashville. Poile/Laviolette would love him and he'd be out of the spotlight.

I'm just glad that Treliving is smart enough to not even entertain the idea of trading Bennett for Kessel.

Can't deny his scoring touch. But I can't imagine a realistic trade where the Flames don't give up an arm and a leg for him. Doesn't make sense.

The leafs are the best and don't need to trade anyone and if they trade anyone it should be for whatever the leafs want from any team they decide to take from. The leafs run the NHL and that's a fact. If the leafs wanted to trade Kessel to the Flames, they could get Monahan, Johnny, Bennett AND Brodie and the Flames would be lucky.
There, if we get that out of the way maybe we won't have to hear from leaf fans how valuable their players are. Kessel would only make sense to the Flames if....wait, it just doesn't make any sense at all.

Calgary only has 4 Harvey's locations while Edmonton has 9.
Edmonton is 2x the better fit.

I have absolutely no idea how a person interested in hockey could look at Bob Hartley and his "always work hard" mantra and then honestly say "yeah, that'd be a great fit for Phil Kessel". Mind-bottling stuff.
I guess it's summer, after all.

5 million or 6 million a year Phil Kessel makes all sorts of sense for the Flames, 8 million Phil Kessel, not so much.
I'd be curious to see how Kessel would fare in CGY if he dedicated himself to the Flames Strength and conditioning mantra. 70/30 chance that Kessel wouldn't buy into that so I'd pass.
Still he'd be a legit #1 RW. personally don't think it would work though.

If we can get Kessel without giving up major pieces then I'm all for it. Kessel is an elite scorer in a position where we need to add more high end players. He wouldn't be expected to carry the team like he is with the leafs, which would take pressure off of him.
We're going to need to add more offense (along with a lot of other things) to this lineup in order to get better, because a lot of the time if the other team could shut down the Gaudreau/Monahan/Hudler line our offense ran dry.

It seems that the only reason he mentioned Calgary is because of Burke. Terrible logic, from a normally smart guy.
Freidman started the discussion speculating that it would make most sense for a team with championship window of the next 3-4 years. That would be most likely (with a trade of picks and prospects).

O.K. there has been a lot of talk on whether or not MacTavish has actually done a good job for us, most fans on this board are very basic in their analysis and I feel would change their opinion entirely if the team was successful.

Bit of a click bait title. Friedman at the last of a list loosely wonders if Calgary would have any interest in him. That is all.

Hold on, we'd have to give up assets? He's basically a salary dump at this point.

The only "fit" I see is that he is a RW.
Will he fit in the plans 3 years from now? No.
