Default 2016 NHL Draft

I know, might be a little early to broach the topic, but with all the interest around the 2015 NHL Draft, a little glimpse into 2016 might not be too shabby.

For those that picked up the CP discounted 2015 FC Draft Guide, you've already been well aware of this (and the profiles that come along with it), but we've released our Preliminary Ranking for the 2016 NHL Draft.

Quote:
Matthews, a native of Scottsdale, AZ, recorded 116 points for the NTDP U18 club in 2014-15, breaking a record set by current Chicago Blackhawks standout and former first overall pick Patrick Kane in 2005-06. He also had eight goals and 15 points in seven games at the World Under-18 Championship and two assists and three points in the 2015 World Junior Championship.

Matthews missed the 2015 NHL Draft cutoff by two days and is rumored to join either the Everett Silvertips of the Western Hockey League or the ZSC Lions in Switerzland for the 2015-16 season.
No surprise at the top, but lots of interesting trends early on nonetheless.

Preliminary list can be found here: http://futureconsiderations.ca/fc-re...016-nhl-draft/

Jesse Puljujarvi sounds interesting (nicknamed "Malkinen" by some).

Already 6'3" and 220 lbs? Right winger? Yes please.

I can't believe the oilers got the first overall again! It would be awesome if one of these years the top prospect pulled a Lindros and refused to go to the oilers. I'm guessing Matthews won't though. I know oiler fans are going to say that he's going to change the franchise's direction and they're going to be contenders again this year but this is getting old.

Now all I have to do is copy and paste this a year from now!

Had Matthews been born a few days earlier, he could have very well been being picked before Eichel.

Every time I have seen this question come up to a scout they always rank Matthews 3rd in this draft after McDavid & Eichel. Either way, he is an elite prospect for next year.

AZ would have been fine with that.

It would be amusing to see a North American high profile prospect go play pro for a year before getting drafted. I hope he goes to Switzerland.

I'm hoping Sean Day ends up wherever the Flames pick. Kid looks so solid.

Wasn't he THE big prospect for this draft a couple years ago? Exceptional status in the OHL and everything? Hasn't panned out the same way as the other exceptional status guys.

Im very interested to see where the Hitmens Jake Bean ends up in next years draft. He was fantastic in the 2nd half of the season this year and is exactly what teams are looking for now in a decent sized, mobile puck moving Dman with some offensive potential. He could be a dominant Dman in the WHL at 17 next season. If he grows an inch or 2 and keeps progressing he could push himself into the top 10.

I'm with ya on Bean, RyZ - and we get to watch him further develop in our own back yard. Really impressive kid.

Sam Steel is my favorite in the draft.

Very interesting draft for certain. From my point of view, the Flames will need to draft carefully and pull out some important players to work towards cup contention. Getting exciting for certain.

Came for joke about Edmonton picking 1st. Leaving satisfied.

Also, hoping the Flames pick 30th (or 32nd in case of expansion).

Las Vegas fans are already buying his jersey.

Jakob Chychrun looked really good. Similar game to Ekblad, but a little more dynamic offensively.

I'm really rooting for the Coyotes to get Matthews, hometown kid who grew up watching them, and they got booted from the McEichel sweepstakes this year.
