Self-Storage Options in Calgary?
My yop-gobbling folks are moving into a smaller place later this summer and I, being a dirty latte sipper have nothing but a tiny condo storage cage here in the urban jungle.
Their basement is full of things I need to store somewhere which may be a long-term period (more than 2 years).
Trying to online shop for storage is a hassle as many of the places appear to not have listed prices but you have to work with a "storage specialist" to give you quotes and you have to hassle and bargain.
What are your storage experiences in this city? What's the most affordable? I don't need any amenities like climate control or easy access or location or anything. I just need a place to put my stuff!

Sentinel storage has quotes right on their website.
I rent a 10 X 10 at the Glenmore location for $260/mth. And don't bother shopping around too much, storage in this city is frikking expensive, and nobody's gonna cut you a break, unless you want to drive to the middle of nowhere.

Wow I had no idea storage costs were that high.
I have 3 empty bedrooms bigger than 10x10.. Lol

There are a few independent storage operations both North and South of the city that should be much more affordable. We had a 5x10 at Sentinel across from Winsport for a while and it was around $175 per month.
Storage appears to be a great money making business.

Storage costs are high here. Just went through this with a friend who took a 3 year contract in KSA. It was actually cheaper to kijiji up an old (1990s) 26' RV trailer, gut it, fill it with stuff, and park it at an RV lot just outside the city at $60/month.

No frills. I have my stuff in there. They have large tractor trailers sectioned off into various sized compartments. Reasonably priced and very good to deal with.
Off the beaten path a bit but if you only need to go out there occasionally it doesn't matter.

I used BigSteelBox while our house was being built. Great service and affordable.

I heard about the storage containers from a friend who was moving. According to him, you they dropped off a shipping container at his place and then they can help you take it away but you still need to find a place to store the container itself.
That might be a promising option, along with finding an el-cheapo storage yard somewhere on the outskirts or even in another town (Okotoks, Red Deer, Lethbridge?)

I store my boat and trailer at T&T Storage. It is out 17th Ave SE, just passed Stoney Trail.
I know they have a bunch of Sea cans you can rent. If you don't care about temp, that might be a good bet.

They will store your container for a small fee, I think it was $30 per month.

I've wanted to rent one but balked at the price. Let's say even at $200 per month, that's $2400 per year plus tax. I don't think I have $2400 worth of stuff to store. It's probably cheaper for me just to throw my stuff away and buy new than to pay storage fees on them.
