well, gryba is an NHL defenceman. He isn't a top pairing or second pairing guy, but the guy is an NHL defenceman on most teams in the NHL.

That's more than can be said for:

Aulie
Hunt
Davidson
Oesterle

and the other guys they tried at the #6 spot.

Good trade. Helps the team next year incrementally. Those picks wouldn't have helped the Oilers next year.

They need to address their top 4. If they don't, these kinds of trades are a waste of time IMO. Until something changes they now have 6 or 7 #5-7 Dmen and no legit top 4 to speak of. Not really a smart way to build a team.
