The Washington Capitals are pleased to welcome Brad Richards and Drew Stafford to the organization.
To Washington:
Brad Richards
Drew Stafford
$4 Million in cap.
To NYR:
Nick Bonino
PA Parenteau
2015 pick #91
Like Paul Byron, neither Nick Bonino or PAP had played a single game in a Capitals uniform before being shipped out.
While Bonino has youth and shows promise, he's a Canuck, which nullifies those last thoughts.
The negotiated 4 million in cap given to take on Richards was a good enough incentive for us to take the immediate upgrade at C.
Richards is kinda like one of those abandoned dogs you see in rescue commercials. Multiple people pass him by, mainly because of his age and disheveled looks. We have plans on cleaning him up, and giving Richards a complete make over from top to bottom. He did have 28 goals and 61 points in the CPHL last years, and we plan on showing everyone that this dog still has plenty of bite left in his game.
PA Parenteau was a waiver claim in the off season. From fourth-line demotions to dealing with a concussion, it’s been a bumpy ride that we don't see him improving on with the Canadiens. The chance to upgrade to former 1st rounder Drew Stafford, who had some impressive stats (9 goals and 19 points in 26 games) since joining the Jets late last season, was a huge addition for us. We believe that his play in Winnipeg, with line mates like Wheeler and Little, will only boost his stock.
With off season upgrades like Michalek and now Richards and Stafford, we feel like we're making the moves necessary to make an immediate push to bring the playoffs back to Washington fans, and
Capitalize on those newly introduced improvement incentives. The earlier additions of Spooner, Darling, Zykov and the 12th overall pick this year hopefully help us ensure the future is bright as well.
Thanks to RT14 for the long chats and putting up with my demanding offers!
