Yeah, good write up and agreed unfortunately. I'm not sure the Flames have the defensive horses to get the job done. I just can't see how the Flames can beat the Ducks this coming round.
But then again, I didn't think the Flames had a shot at making the playoffs so...

Say what you will about the Canucks and Willie Desjardins but he's a good coach.
And if you listened to his series-ending presser, the only piece of criticism he gave us (constructive mind you), was that our D was getting tired.
Sure nerves played a role, but IMO that's why we were struggling to close it out and - if not for our first line digging us out - it may not have even happened.
Our D is really what got us here. And it's true they have got to be tired... damn tired. We've spent a lot on gas just getting here...
Sadly with all of the rest Anaheim has had I'm thinking that this could be a quick one really. And hoping that they surprise us.

I think it goes longer than 5, but I can't see the Flames getting out of this thing on the good side.
If they do, all bets are off on how far they could go.

The Flames lack of depth on D will really hurt in this series. Ducks in 5

I'm not expecting a series win by the Flames, but would love to be pleasantly surprised!
However, if we can win one of Game 1/2... you never know!

I am just going to say, 99% of Flames predictions this season have been horribly wrong. I am hoping this is just one more of those.

I know what we are up against. Pragmatism says just vote Ducks in 5.
Knowing and watching and believing in this team like the players do, my heart and soul say Flames in 6. Just win one in Honda Centre and ride the C of Red to Victory at home.

Anaheim isn't all they're cracked up to be. I don't see any reason why we can't beat them, Honda Center curse or not. Flames in 6.

Flames are a scary team at home right now. If they can get a single win on the road out of games 1, 2, and 5, then they will win the series in 6.
Don't underestimate just how potent the crowd can be, or the value of Hartley getting the matchups he wants at home.

"Duck confit"- Duck leg meat which is cooked in its own fat.
It's delicious and also the gravy related joke you were trying to make

Not my post, copied from comments on one of the Flames stories out there. Found this fun though:
They said Gaudreau wouldn't make the team...hes up for a Calder
They said Monahan would have a Sophomore slump...tied in team lead for goals with 31
They said we wouldn't survive without Gio...here we are!
They said we wouldn't make the playoffs...2nd round here we come
They said Hartley might not get resigned..easy pick for coach of the year
They said a lot but Roasted Duck is still on the menu in Calgary.

I've got the ducks in 5 or 6. I don't think they will be affected by the C of Red like the Canucks were, and I think they will be able to handle the out burst from Calgary.
Ducks in 6 after splitting games 1/2 and 3/4.

I would say that the intangibles would be a large edge to the Flames. Zero pressure, massive home crowd and support, never say die attitude, too young to know any better, rookies that can break the game open in different ways, riding a huge high from their first series victory as a group. Also I would add Hiller against his old team that completely gave up on him as an intangible. I think he's either going to be super tight and fold up like a cheap tent, or be lights out amazing. That's a gamble that I am willing to take in this series, given that we have a solid backup, and thus would add that as a further intangible edge for the Flames.
Anyways solid write-up, thanks.

For me it comes down to the first 2 games. If the Flames can manage to get 1 of the first 2 in Anaheim they have a damn good chance. This team thrives off of momentum like no other team I've seen.
I would also argue we've seen enough out of the Flames to give them the intangibles edge. They have a family level bond that I just haven't seen in any other team this season and for me this tilts the intangibles advantage to Calgary.
If we win 1 of the first 2, I say it's Flames in 7. If not, Ducks in 6.

I don't think what you listed there is what people consider as "Intangibles"
