I Like Brandon Bollig
8 minutes of icetime/night.
2 playoff goals.
Would much rather have him than Sven Baerschi in the lineup. Warrior /winner that you must have in the playoffs.

Given that he was a child actor, can we start calling him Bolliwood?

He was a nothing part for much of the season (on the ice, can't speak to his off ice influence). He has more than justified the pick that was given up for him in these playoffs tho. He has been tremendous. He is exactly the kind of fourth liner you need to win these days. Tough, tenacious, can put the puck in the net when put in the right opportunity. Great pickup.

You need guys like him on the team. The game is faster. The game has opened up so much more for the skilled players. The 'goons' are essentially gone. You still need the meat on the team - especially in the playoffs, and especially in playoff series against bigger teams.
Bollig, Ferland, Engelland and even Colborne have all had moments when their size and grit have made an important difference. I am thankful that the Flames have guys like Carrol, Arnold, Smith, Kanzig, and more coming up the pipeline. Guys that can actually play the game. They won't all make it, but I would bet a couple at least manage to play themselves onto the team over the next few seasons, and they will definitely help this team greatly. Hopefully Jankowski can continue his development and become another large sized player with some skill out there as well.
Hopefully Bouma and Ferland are both back in time for an Anaheim game - they can all add some size and grit to different lines and give the Flames a different look. Also, can you imagine a Ferland - Bouma - Bollig line coming over the boards? If you are on the ice for the other team, you just know you are not going to have an easy shift.
Bollig has definitely paid off in these playoffs.

I know fans were down on him in the regular season and justly so as for periods of the season he was a non-factor. However I'm one of those people that believe (okay it's kind of an NFL saying as well) you can't always judge a player based on his first season with a new team as it can take a full season for a player to get comfortable in a new city, new teammates, new system, etc. Bollig has come through when it counts in the playoffs with his experience and while I don't expect him to score double digit goals next season I do expect him to be much better going forward.

Has been a real fire starter for the team. Trade and contract starting to look a little better. If he pots another goal in this series I'd say he has justified his sale thus year!

Bollig has definitely stepped it up and scored a couple huge goals in the playoffs. But I still think he is expendable with the youth coming up. Would you a Paul Byron or Bouma given us the same offensive spark? Quite possibly.

I don't think the Flames are in position to get smaller. He's really the only big, tough forward on the roster. Ferland is physical but you don't want him playing enforcer.

No, I think you have to keep a guy like Bolig for a few reasons; he adds that bottom 6 vet presence on the team and he has playoff experience winning the cup with the hawks. He's seen a lot and can be a good mentor for our young bottom 6 guys. We can't have all rookies on the team and he's really shown he can help the team when the pressure is on.

BB was a more productive 12th forward for us, in his Blackhawk tenure, than Burish or Eager was...Consistent effort, more hockey smarts than the average goon, was used in the 4th rotation on the PK, and was excellent on the forecheck/cycle...Bollig was a good team guy.
Glad he is having a positive impact for your guys.

He wasn't very good in the regular season but has played well thus far in the playoffs. I get the sense that he's a good character in the locker room too, which proves invaluable during this part of the season.

He and Engellend have really proven their worth in the playoffs (Engellend since Gio went down). Big bodies from winning organizations playing their roles well when it matters the most

We definitely need more players like Bollig for the playoffs. They've been huge! Smaller guys get it done in the regular season, but you need the size for the playoffs.

Bollig has been good. Now if you could make a line of Wolf, Ferland and Bollig that would be insane. I would not want to be a defence man going after a puck in the corner against that line!

I am outraged at myself that I didn't know Bollig was a child actor haha. What's next? Premier of Alberta?
He seems to be a great team guy, and his playoff experience is showing. Don't get too high, and don't get too low. In Johnny's post game, he said the young guys including himself were really devastated on the bench after the no-goal call, but that the guys with playoff experience told them to chill out, and all will be well.
He's no first liner, but he is doing well these playoffs for his position.

I also like Brandon Bollig - especially in the playoffs, the guy was built for this type of play.

I believe it's always a good idea to get players who played secondary roles that have won cups on your team. They know what it takes. It's times like this when you can really appreciate guys like Bollig and Engelland.
