Flames Bill Simmons shows some love for the Flames

http://espn.go.com/espnradio/podcast/archive?id=2864045

On the latest BS Report he interviews Greg Wyshynski of Puck Daddy. Most of the talk centres on the Kings and Bruins, but he does throw some serious love the Flames' way and even picks them to make the Western Conference Final.

Also, he piles a ton of hate on the Canucks, which is awesome.

You left out the part where he slams Edmonton as well

"There's a black hole of hockey up there in Alberta"

I think it was Wysh who described Edmonton as a black hole, but Simmons agrees with him.

Thanks for the info on this podcast. I've been looking for something besides Sportsnet's Hockey Central at Noon, which should really be called Leafs at Noon. Yesterday, April 13, almost the entire show was taken up with Leafs chatter, despite the fact there are 5 Canadian teams in the playoffs starting this week. Brutal.

I used to read Simmons religiously, but I haven't listened to his podcasts in a couple years. Simmons despises Vancouver because of the Boston SCF a few years ago. Being that he's an LA Kings STH, he thoroughly enjoyed hating them there as well. He's not anywhere near as knowledgable about hockey as he is basketball, but he gets what's going on. Unlike Peyton Manning, who he respects greatly but loves to cheer against, he hates the Sedins and Vancouver. I think I'll make him an honorary Flames fan.

Unfortunately, Bill Simmons knows absolutely nothing whatsoever about hockey. Wyshinski does, though, at least a bit, and he also picked the Flames on Marek vs Wyshinski yesterday. Marek hasn't made his picks yet.

I'm surprised how much love the Flames are getting, I figured they'd be the underdogs and maybe get the occasional pick to win, but they're getting well over half.

Try "Marek vs. Wyshynski" it's a great podcast.

The Steve Dangle Podcast is the best podcast in hockey despite being a leafs podcast.

Today yet again the first 15 min were all Leaf GM talk before finally switching to a bit of playoff stuff

They also interviewed Mark Spector about the Oilers and Kypreos asked him how hard it was on Oiler fans that the Flames just made the playoffs when everyone was saying we would have this long miserable rebuild. He got agitated upset and refused to answer. "YOURE ASKING ME THAT? YOURE REALLY ASKING ME THAT!"

And yet, this is the guy covering the Flames-Canucks series for Sportsnet... To go along with Thomas Drance, a Canucks fans who hates the Flames. Hughson and Simpson doing the PBP. Good job Sportsnet, not a single guy covering the series who doesn't hate the Flames.

Hughson may be a bit of a Canucks homer, but I don't think he hates the Flames (or Simpson for that matter). Wtf is Drance doing covering the series? I didn't even know he worked for Rogers.

I'm not sure it's fair to say that Spector HATES the Flames. He's definitely an Oilers guy, but he respects what Calgary has done and is disgusted with the Oilers .

Simmons is great. Not the best hockey guy, but I do enjoy his stuff. The hate for Vancouver was awesome.
