Senators Mark Stone has fractured wrist, possibly out for Game 2 or beyond...
Senators tweeted today:
2015-04-16 15:28:43 UTC
@Senators: Injury update: #Sens Mark Stone has suffered a microfracture on his right wrist & his availability for the series is unknown at this time.
Gamesmanship to bait the NHL to suspend Subban, or for real?

I think it's a little gamesmanship. Only because normally at this time of year, teams are pretty tight lipped about injuries.

BS imo. In a time where everything is upper body or lower body injury, they go this specific? He's likely in pain but I doubt he misses too much time. All a ploy.

Don't believe them for a second... Mark Stone doesn't miss a single game.

There is a big difference between stress fracture and microfracture. This is just posturing.

Are teams allowed to make specific "false" injury claims.
I can see them being allowed to say things like "lower body" or "upper body", but I find it tuff to believe the NHL would allow teams to lie about injuries.

you would think if it's any kind of fracture he would be out of the series ... although i'm not sure what a micro fracture is

I think the injury is true, but they wouldn't be that specific if they weren't trying to fuel disciplinary action against Subban.
I also bet he plays. There are probably a lot of player playing with similar types of injuries right now.

Of course it's gamemanship.
Justifies the 5 and the coach's comments, and pushes forward a suspension notion, to some degree.
Moving along...

I've only ever heard of a microfracture once. At the gym, a guy was wearing ankle weights while riding the bike, he claimed that with enough elevation you can create microfractures in your ankles that stretch the joint and make you up to an inch taller.

It's probably some gamesmanship now, but it wasn't yesterday. You don't keep sending your hottest player to the dressing room during a tight game in hopes of getting the other guy suspended.

I had no idea I had so many medical colleagues on CP!

Should start a forensic investigation into this incident.

I don't know he left he came back and he left to get treatments, and you could see that he was having trouble with shooting last night.
While yes there is some gamesmanship going on last night I think it was pretty apparent where the injury was, why not take advantage.
If the Sens lose Stone for the series and I doubt we see him back before game 4 or 5 this series ends quickly.

Happens not that infrequently, at least in terms of info given to the media.

Hey, that's an Edmonton concept and they probably have the patent on it.

There's a big difference between cancer requiring phallectomy and a trabecular microfracture. In conclusion, this is all normal playoffs gamesmanship!

Sure, whatever they say. Stone realized that Johnny Hockey has the drop on him for the Calder, so he decided to go for a Tony Award instead, and get the Habs' best skater a game misconduct in the process. Didn't work.

I think the only reason they aren't playing the 'upper/lower' body card, is because it is obvious where the injury would be in this case. Plus a lot of people were accusing stone of embellishment.
