I have this technical report that I have to do for school.

I was just wondering if anyone knew how to reference a website that they used information from.

There is a formal way to set it up in your reference section.

Does anyone have any idea?

Thanks in advance.

Go here
http://www.ucalgary.ca/library/linc/citation.htm

Depend what format you want to reference in: APA, Chicago, MLA etc. but there's guides for all of them and specific guides for online sources at the bottom. B-)

I was taught to do it like this:

"The Off Topic Thread," Calgary Puck Forum. Online: www.forum.calgarypuck.com
(16 Aug 2005)

you put the name of the article or whatever you used from the website in quotations, then the official name of the site. then the web address and then in brackets type the day you visited that site.

Hope that helps...

Best of them all:

http://www.citationmachine.net/

Put in your information, and it'll spit out everything you need.

They're just different formats. Not too sure where the roots of each come from.

But the way suggested above (Article, Page Name, URL, last updated) is what I used in Engineering school.

edit: may as well correct poor grammar in this thread.
