Flames Iggy's 30 goal streak snapped

With Iggy's 2 goals vs Chicago last night he finished the year with 29 goals.

The consecutive non lockout streak has ended now but he came awfully close and had several goals earlier in the year that were credited to him but taken away upon further review.

I know Iggy can be a hot button topic around here sometimes but you have to admire a player and players who are older and still getting it down on a consistent basis later in their careers. The NHL has so many young talents these days that just seem to fall of a cliff production wise or sign long term deals and just fizzle out.

He still has one of the best one timers in the league, until he loses his shot he'll still be a factor. Not many players can set up where he does and score with such consistency. Amazing that he got 29 this year with such a bad year from his teammates.

I was hoping he hits the 30 goal plateau this year.

He had a good season with the aves this year.

Honestly, for me Iginla is just another player in the league now.

Still led the team in goals and points, correct? Seems like a good enough season for him. Also another full 82 game season for the guy

He had a great year considering many factors like his age and the team he's on.

He almost had it too. He was basically on the ice for the last 3 mins last night. Got the game winner with 33 secs left, and they tried once or twice to feed him for the empty net goal but it was not to be :/

I watched his last game of the year this season and he was sooo close to getting 30 again. Him, duchene, and Mitchell were on a 3-on-2 with an empty net with 20 seconds left. Duchene had the puck and tried to pass it to iggy but seabrook dove across to just barely knock the pass out of the air. I was so mad.

Maybe didn't hit 30 but still managed to finish top 20 in the entire league in goals scored....at age 37.

he is a remarkable athlete.

only needs 11 more to become the 19th player in NHL history to score 600 career goals. Simply amazing.

I think he had a couple goals called off anyways, but he's close enough for me anyways to still be a lock for 30.

Pretty crazy that Iggy has had 12 30+ goal seasons, and 3 other seasons of 28, 29, 29 totals. A tad bit more goals during those seasons and he could have had 15 seasons of 30+ goals.

Iggy just keeps trucking along. Him and Tanguay were the bright spots for the av's coming down the stretch.

15.

28, 29, then the 12 years of 30+, and another 29.

Still impressive he can score 25+ goals pretty much every year at his age.

Everyone always said with Iggy's fitness level and shot he would be one of those guys who could play into their early 40's.

If he can average 20 goals a year until he is 42. He might pass Mario for top 10 all time in Goal scoring. Considering he played through most of the dead puck era, and lost a solid 50 goals to lock outs that would be an amazing feet.

Hopefully he has a couple more 25 goal season in him, and continues wanting to play into his 40's

I'll always have a soft spot for Iginla, he's the best player to wear the Flames uniform, did so with class and poise for a decade and a half, and we all know he's going to come back here in three years to play right wing on our 4th line, score 16 goals in 55 games and cry like a baby when he hoists the Cup.

29 goals is still impressive at his age on a team where most of the young talent had an off year.

29 is an excellent achievement, but it stings when you were just 1 away from the milestone!

Iggy was and is my all time favorite player. I wish him nothing but success.

And for my money, one of the best goal scorers in the history of the NHL. I bet he comes close to catching Sakic on the goal list.
