Kopitar doesn't belong in the running. Meh season of 64 points and a minus 2 on the year.

A category I expect a young man named Monahan to appear in....in the very near future.

Think it goes to Bergeron. He was the only reason the B's were relevant this year. Wouldnt be upset if Toews won it either. Both are great players, Anze did had an off year though, I agree

That is what was originally announced but they appear to have swapped the dates for the Selke and Calder.
Presumably Calder will be announced tomorrow, unless they change it again.

I guess Kopitar can defend his zone, but he can't defend his title .

What makes a Selke winner or candidate?
Is it plus/minus? Is it PK skill? Is it 2-way play?

Pretty sure I saw some media members with votes saying he was on their ballot, so wouldn't be surprised at all to see him in the top 6-7 when the full voting results are released.

The Selke is goes to the best defensive forward. There is no objective criteria for it. It's all subjective.
In practice, the Selke and the Lady Byng are really career recognition trophies. It is nearly always veterans with a long resume that are voted winners. Extra credit if you score lots of goals and points as well. That's how someone like Kopitar is one of the top three vote-getters despite a pretty meh season.
And I agree with Transplant. If Monahan can build a body of work over the next few seasons that match what he did this year, his name is going to appear on this trophy.

Curious to know why the last minute change? All the voters calling in asking to change their vote to Gaudreau since recent events? Makes sense

Except it doesn't because the voting was all done before the playoffs started.
