Senators sign the Hamburgler to 3 year deal ($1.35M AAV)
Ottawa Senators @Senators
Les #Sens s'entendent sur les termes d'une prolongation de contrat de trois ans avec le gardien Andrew Hammond

The average annual value of Hammond’s extension is $1.35M ($1.2M, $1.35M, $1.5M)

If it's a one way deal they've lost their minds
Edit: And it's not so bad

$1.35mil, 3 years. Very reasonable deal for the Senators.

Decent deal for both sides, not a huge risk for Ottawa when he's making backup money. Hammond guarantees himself a 4M contract after 25 games played in the NHL. He'll only be 30 when this contract is up, so if he's more than a one-year (quarter-year) wonder he can still cash in.

I thought he could have gotten more than that.

Wonder who is gone Lehner or Anderson? My guess is Lehner with O'Connor on board

I think the whole world is waiting for the bottom to fall out for him. For the security of a three-year deal, that's good money for Hammond.

Hope the Jets make a move on Andersen or lehner.
Good deal for both sides. Hammond earned it.

I believe in the Jays.

Pretty fair deal, the guy screams "flash in the pan" but they're basically paying him back-up money so it's not a huge risk and so long as Hammond has a good financial planner he gets set for life.
Nice way to reward the guy for providing one of the best stories in the NHL this year.

Yeah, I am not sold that he can sustain his play from late last season. Good contract considering the risk involved.

I want Chiarelli to go after Anderson. I think he is a very good goalie who could be the Oilers starter for the next couple seasons. I'm just not sure what the market value for him would be.
With Anderson, Hammond, O'Connor and Lehner in the mix, Ottawa will be dealing a goalie. I think Ottawa will try and ship Lehner out though.

3 year development deal. Cannot say he didn't earn it with that late season tear he went on. I think the Sens know and he knows the true test is to not Jim Carey things from here on out.

Robin Lehner has now lost playing time to Craig Anderson, Ben Bishop and Andrew Hammond. Cut bait. Let the Oilers think he's a savior.

I guess the money is no big deal and actually thought he would get more. But I never thought he was a good goalie. Out of position all the time with scramble saves making him look great. Bad at the basics I guess.
Good for him though, it was/is a good story.

This seems reasonable. I still think the Hamburgler is nothing more than an average goalie who went on a hot streak but I can see him becoming a decent backup who steals the occasional game. With the low cap hit though there is little risk to the Sens if he is just a flash in the pan.
It will be very interesting to see what Ottawa does next in net. Anderson is their best goalie but also their biggest trade chip. Then there is Lehner who doesn't have much trade value but considering the late development curve of goalies still has potential. Their options are as follows:
1. Keep all the goalies with Anderson as the starter. Try to trade Lehner or put him on waivers and send down. If Lehner somehow beats out Hammond in camp try to trade the Hamburgler or put him on waivers and send down instead. This is the safest goaltending solution.
2. Trade Anderson and go with a Hamburgler and Lehner combo. This would be a rebuilding move that could be expected from the Sens.
3. Trade Anderson but sign a FA goalie. See number 1 for what to do with the other goalies. This would be good from an asset management point of view but the FA would be overpriced and there is no guarantee they would be better than Anderson.

Can't see them trading Anderson, not this summer anyway. Lehner has been nothing special and was recently concussed, Hamburgler could easily turn into back into a pumpkin, and O'Connor is completely unproven. Removing Anderson could destroy their season before it starts if all the stars don't align for the other guys (a distinct possibility). No way they take that risk.
