April 6th - The day Devan Dubnyk and Eddie Lack channeled their inner Jesus
Hope this is okay that I make this thread - FBI said he wanted to pass the torch, and I have a feeling I can make a difference.
5:00 PM - Carolina Hurricanes (29-38-11) @ Buffalo Sabres (22-49-8)
This game means nothing, both teams are eliminated from playoff contention. Carolina is 11-23-4 on the road while Buffalo is 13-21-5 at home. The next bounce these teams will be hoping for is in the draft lottery.
5:00 PM - Columbus Blue Jackets (39-35-4) @ New York Rangers (50-21-7)
The Blue Jackets have a chance to extend their record winning streak to 10 games. The Rangers are trying to lock up a President's Trophy and sweep the season series against Columbus. Columbus is 22-15-2 on the road while New York is 24-10-5 at Madison Square Garden. This game is televised on Sportsnet West.
6:00 PM - Winnipeg Jets (40-26-12) @ Minnesota Wild (44-26-8)
Pavelec starts for the Jets who are 18-13-7 on the road. The Wild can clinch a playoff spot with a win tonight, and Dubnyk is starting his 37th straight game. The Wild have lost two straight, and have not lost three in a row since acquiring Dubnyk. Minnesota looks to improve on their 22-12-6 home record. The Jets are without Tobias Enstrom (day-to-day) and Dustin Byfuglien (suspension).
8:00 PM - Los Angeles Kings (39-25-14) @ Vancouver Canucks (45-29-5)
"Everybody looks at the standings every day. I mean, that's why they're hockey players," coach Darryl Sutter said Sunday, according to LAKingsInsider.com. "That's why they're athletes. I mean, do you think in every sport or any sport they don't look at the standings? Do you not think in golf, football, basketball, baseball, hockey, that players don't look at standings? I think every day you look. You'd like to know where you are, don't you? You'd like to know if you're last or first, always."
The Kings are 15-16-7 away from the Staples Center, while Vancouver is 21-15-2 at home.
8:00 PM - Dallas Stars (38-31-10) @ San Jose Sharks (39-31-9)
Both of these teams are virtually eliminated but whoever loses this game will be officially eliminated from playoff contention. It was a disappointing season for both teams. Dallas is 22-15-2 on the road while the Sharks are 19-16-5 at home.
Go Wild, Go Canucks, Go pylon. I will light some candles and pray.
The Apostle's Creed:
I believe in Devan Dubnyk,
the Goalie Almighty,
Creator of the Wild playoff push;
and in Eddie Lack, the only goalie, our savior,
Who was conceived by the hockey spirit,
born of the fantastic Mrs. Lack,
suffered under Luongo & Schneider,
was crucified, made fun of, and ridiculed.
He descended into the AHL.
The trade day he arose again from the minors;
He ascended into the Rogers arena,
sitteth at the right hand of Willie Desjardins, the Coach Almighty;
From thence He shall come to judge the playoff teams and the lottery teams.
I believe in the Hockey Spirit,
The Holy Hockey Church,
the communion of goaltenders,
the forgiveness of being a Canuck,
the resurrection of playoffs in the Saddledome,
and The Cup everlasting, Amen.

Quick is due for a shutout and the kings are the greatest team ever.
The jets are on a role and will shut out the wild. The jets are a team of destiny and nothing can stand in their way.
Shutout. Shut f'n out.

I'm still on the fence with LA vs the dirty Canucks.
Obviously an LA loss provides a bit more cushion, so first things first, I guess.
In regulation please.

Further, since going into play off mode late last month the Kings have become unbeatable, infallible all with a super strong offense which never seems to give up.
The jets well, they just keep going.
F' em both.

Surely Dubnyk's beastmode is due to run out. Surely.
And Canucks never help us out in OOT so surely they will lose and Quick posts a shutout.

At first glance it doesn't seem so bad if Vancouver loses to LA tonight. Then you see that Vancouver finishes the season against Arizona and Edmonton. That 3 game losing streak couldn't continue and Vancouver would most likely finish with 99 points anyways. The Flames would still have to win out in order to finish ahead of Vancouver.
Shutout for Quick! Lets go Quick, he's our man. If he can't do it.. I'm out 20 bucks.

I know the Canucks are pretty much in if they beat Arizona or Edmonton but holy crap wouldn't it be hilarious if they lost those games and missed playoffs?

Especially after a lot of their fans and some media members were wondering if a loss last game vs. the Jets would help them by keeping LA out. Trying to dictate match ups before clinching hopefully comes back to bite them.

We have to hope for a Canucks win. There's an extremely low chance they lose the games against Arizona and Edmonton.
If the Flames beat Arizona tomorrow and the Kings lose tonight (then beat EDM), the Flames will have a 1-point lead over LA heading into the LA game.
By the way, people claiming that Minnesota won't go hard against the Jets are completely wrong. A loss to the Jets puts the Jets 2 points behind them. Tack on an LA win and Minnesota isn't far from 9th place. They will play like they need to win.

Sabres game might mean nothing to you, but a regulation loss clinches 30th place for Buffalo. One more loss.

I think Vancouver comes out guns a blazing, they are still fighting for a playoff spot and most likely would rather face the Flames than the Kings in the first round.
Their mistake, but we will take it.

Flames clinch with a win in this game, in this scenario. (clinch even with a King OT loss to Canucks, if Flames win in regulation, or clinch with extra time win if the Kings lose in regulation to the Canucks. I think...)
So, go dirty diver Canucks, go

I'm just happy that it's not the oilers finishing last. I really want the oil to finish as high as they can and have a non bottom team win the lottery so the oil get the lowest pick they can.

The Canucks will probably pull out all the stops, take it to LA, and still lose.

Probably.
In the end, a regulation win in one of the last two games should get the job done.
Expecting help is futile
