Mclean Creek - Paddys Flats first come sites

So with the weather being this nice my mind has turned to camping. This year I'm thinking that instead of all my friends towing their trailers home to dewinterize we will leave the wives and kids home and do it at a campground in April with obligatory piss-up to follow.

Question I have is what are peoples experiance with first come sites at Mclean Creek and Paddys flats in April? do you think we will be able to show up on a friday and get 4-5 sites?

non of us have OHVs so it doesn't have to be Mclean creek (its on the list because they have power)

Any recommendations for free camping close to Calgary that can accommodate 5 trailers is also appreciated.

When does Paddy's Flats even open? I know Gooseberry isn't open until May.

A lot also depends on the weather. If it's been nice all week leading up, it will be harder on Friday afternoon.
