If Kingston is out, should the Flames bring in Bennett
So the April fools thread, started me thinking, if Kingston is go down 0-4 and are out.
Should the Flames bring Bennett in?
They can have as many roster spots as they want, and there is not need to play him. But he certainly provides good cover for injury.

This is pretty much all that's being talked about in the other thread, just FYI.

Yeah, I saw that after.
I thought it was an important topic, and might even deserve a poll.
If the mods don't think it deserves it's own topic they can shut it down.

Question: A few days (weeks?) back, someone said we have one last call up and assumed Wotherspoon was that call up.
Does calling Bennett up use up this last call up option? I also assume that it might make more sense to call up a D-man as our team is getting peppered by shots and probably could use some rest here and there later on.

I'd prefer that he goes to the Heat instead and gets meaningful playing time.
To me bringing him up to the Flames to be a black ace isn't a bad idea as he gets used to being with pro's but I don't see the need to rush him into games at this point.

Yes. Might be just the spark that this team needs down the stretch and into round 1. Put him on the 3rd line and give him sheltered minutes, see what happens. Either way will be great experience for him in his development.
Sit Raymond, or move Raymond to the 4th line and sit Shore or Ferland.
Alternatively, move Stajan to the 3rd line and put Bennett on Stajan's wing.

For the love of god!! This same question has been answered dozens or hundreds of times
1. Yes, when kingston is eliminated the flames can call him up or send him to AHL whatever they want.
2. Yes, flames have 1 non emergency call up left for regular season, if they call up Sam they can only call up an AHL player due to emergency injury
In all likely hood I think Bennett will be told to pack his things as soon as they lose the 4th game,

I would absolutely love to have Bennett up, but I would consider Wotherspoon playing prior to Bennett if the D need resting and we can only choose 1.

Thanks. Sorry, I scanned about 4 pages back of the Bennett thread and didn't see this info. Probably should have gone further back.

It could be like Sven. Or it could turn out like Iginla's call up. I suspect the latter.

Treliving has shown that he's a patient man. I don't seem him bringing up Bennett just to "give this team a spark". He'll only bring him up if he thinks it's good for his long-term development.
Personally, I would've loved to see him lead his Kingston team far into the playoffs...as opposed to be a 3rd liner with sheltered minutes in (potentially) ours.

Should definitely go to Adirondack. No need to throw him into the pre-playoffs fire and disrupt our defined set of forwards. Not saying he would negatively impact the team, but roles and momentum have already been established and we should stick to what we have. This isn't bringing in an experienced, high-performing vet here.

Yes bring him up. He went back to the OHL and dominated. He has done very thing the team has asked for. Give him a couple of games and make sure he earns the spot prior to keeping him beyond 10 games (if the Flames are lucky enough to have more than 10 games left after Kingston is eliminated)

I'm sure sureloss has answered this many times, but it's not in MacDaddy's angry recap:
If Sam goes to the AHL, can he be recalled from there to the Flames (either as the last recall or an emerg recall)?

If they make the playoffs I would be okay with them bringing him in to practice and be part of the team but not playing him. I think that's a lot to drop him right into a playoff series (I know that Jarome's first game was in the playoffs but this is a different team, different player). You have to go with the horses that got you there and IMO he would be better served playing in the AHL for a bit.

Yes bring him up.
He'll be an automatic upgrade on every center not named Monahan and Backlund.

Yeah, far different than Baertschi. Bennett is coming onto a team that's already packed full of young talent.

Definitely call him up. Great experience regardless if he gets into games or not. This is crunch time and these games matter. Nothing like the Baertchi situation. Need to make the most of this playoff run. If he can help us win a round, that's extra development time for the rest of the team.

Suit him up...every bit of experience to the AHL or NHL culture we have will pay dividends next year.
