Gaudreau named NHL rookie of the month for March
http://flames.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=760966
Quote:
Calgary Flames left wing Johnny Gaudreau, who led all rookies with 16 points (7-9—16) in 15 games, has been named the NHL Rookie of the Month for March.
Gaudreau edged Ottawa Senators right wing Mark Stone (4-11—15 in 16 GP), Boston Bruins teammates Ryan Spooner (7-7—14 in 15 GP) and David Pastrnak (3-10—13 in 15 GP), Carolina Hurricanes center Victor Rask (3-8—11 in 15 GP), and Anaheim Ducks goaltender John Gibson (6-2-0, 2.50 GAA, .918 SV%) for the honor.
Gaudreau, a fourth-round selection (104th overall) by the Flames in the 2011 NHL Draft, recorded at least one point in 10 of his 15 March appearances, highlighted by four multi-point efforts. Those included his fourth career multi-goal game in a 6-3 victory over the Anaheim Ducks March 11 (2-0—2) and his fourth career game-winning goal in a 5-3 triumph over the Dallas Stars March 30 (1-1—2).
With his performance, the 21-year-old Salem, N.J., native moved into first place in rookie scoring with 22-38—60 (76 GP). He also paces all rookies in assists (38), power-play goals (7), power-play assists (t-13) and power-play points (20) this season.
Gaudreau, who also earned the award in December, joins Los Angeles Kings left wing Tanner Pearson (October), Nashville Predators center Filip Forsberg (November), Dallas Stars defenseman John Klingberg (January) and New York Islanders center Anders Lee (February) as Rookie of the Month winners this season.

is their a breakdown of rookie of the month winners so far this year? Would imagine that should help provide an indication of the calder winner.
Homer glasses of course, but gotta be Johnny Gaudreau. For the voters who watch the flames, he's critical to the offense of this team, which lacks game breaking forwards.

#Flames LW Johnny Gaudreau, also the NHL's rookie of the month for December, is first freshman to win monthly honours twice this season.

I hope he gets the Calder, but if not we all as fans still aren't disappointed in the least at what he has done for this team.

This is really good to get Rookie of the Month right before the season ends. Could push his Calder case,

I think if he finishes off with 4-5 more points and wins the rookie scoring race, the Calder is his.

Not for Rookie of the Month. He will get something for being one of the top 3 for the Calder (which, I'd say is a lock at this point).
If he wins the Calder, he'll get $212,500 from the league. If he gets second, it's $150,000, and third is worth $100,000.
Assuming he's eligible for all performance bonuses at the minimum level, he has already maxed out his $850,000 with more than 20 goals, 35 assists, and 60 points, plus playing in the All Star Game.
