Default Amanda Knox Guilty of murder *Update*..appeal successful

The Italians sure know how to put on a show!

First they make this trial out like a reality show and now convict Amanda despite having no physical evidence and the jury isn't even sequestered.

Congrats, not only did they convict a young student with no evidence but they manage to bankrupt her family too...well done.

Yea, this for some reason this one is hard to take. The $5 million she has to pay the dead guys family is a nice touch.

Apparently the judge has obstruction of justice charges pending against him or something too?

It's weird, I didn't actually start hearing about this until sometime yesterday. Should I watch Nancy Grace to get the coles notes?

It's Italy. What do you expect from that country these days? Everything political that comes out of there is basically a farce. Didn't the left-over people from Mussolini's fascist part just recently merge with Berlusconi's?

She also has to pay the guy she accused of the murder!

This is such a weird story and its taken so long to get to here. I can't imagine what everyone has gone through.

Didn't they find her blood mixed with the blood of the victim's at the crime scene?

I don't know if she is guilty, but something fishy happened.

what little bit I did read about this sounded like some group sex romp that went terribly wrong. In the same sense, if she wasn't guilty why wouldn't one of the 3 convicted try and throw the others under the bus. I know I would throw a friend under a bus when it came to life in jail and I was innocent.
I think she was horny and did whatever her little boyfriend asked her to do.\

God bless her for being horny but it sounds like she took it to far.

Why is it that when an attractive young woman is convicted of a horrific crime like this people have such a hard time believing she is guilty?

If she was a guy I doubt I would see someone say I think he was horny and did whatever his little girlfriend asked him to do.

With the dna there is something about her's being found at the scene, but only a trivial amount. Something to the effect of in Italy it's her dna but if this was in the US it wouldn't be counted. The yanks are saying that what was found could easily have been transferred because she lived at the house. It's not a black or white thing, meaning, that the dna was there, but in such a way that it wasn't clear that she was involved (does that make sense?) The boyfriends dna wasn't there at all apparently. The sex story was also made up by the court to make a story up. There's no history at all of sex romps or whatnot going on at all. They put it together to fit the crime scene.

Not sure what the real facts and the true story is, but she's a young girl who could have been in the wrong place at the wrong time. They are also giving her an extra hard time because she's American and the translation comes across poorly as she's not a local or one of "theirs". She does speak Italian but in a foreign way - think about any foreigner speaking english, the translation isn't always there and the emotion is hard to grasp when the words aren't totally clear.

I don't know if she's guilty but I know she did not get a fair trial.

I think that one of the key pieces of evidence was a knife with the victims blood on the blade, and Amanda's DNA on the handle, that alone was fairly damning when it comes to the jury.

This will go through years of appeals.

She was also named Italy's most popular television personality this year.

Problem is four experts have said that knife couldn't have been the murder weapon, it wasn't close to fitting the wounds. While it is possible Amanda is guilty it's criminal how the police seem to have fabricated evidence just to get a conviction.

The Italian's are notorious for rushing to judgement, I think they convicted 3 people as the "Monster of Florence" and still some people think they didn't catch the true serial killer.

Johnnie Cockran is probably rolling in his grave over this trial

Didn't they find that knife in their apartment?

So if someone dies of knife wounds in my house and they find my DNA on a knife that is enough evidence? Let alone evidence that most experts agree didn't have enough DNA to do a real test.

For anyone who wants to get caught up...20/20 story found here: http://abcnews.go.com/2020/

I am with Bouw N Arrow on this one... I agree that in this case, justice was absolutely botched in a case that seemingly had a fair amount of good evidence and leads. If she did that terrible crime, then I wish she would find the strength to admit it. If she did not commit the crime, I wish her the best in her appeal.

But as others have said...there is something fishy about all of this...

The reason she is in this mess is her own fault

now obviously she did not get a fair trial, the media in Italy completely vilified her right from the start

But if she didn't lie to the police on multiple occasions right after the murder, first saying she was in the house and heard the victim (her roommate) screaming, trying to push a bartender as the murdered when he had an air tight alibi, than finally changing her story to saying that she was at her boyfriends house that night. She might never have even gone to trial.

We will never know who actually did it because there wasn't a fair trial, but as the CNN legal expert said yesterday there was easily enough hard evidence and circumstantial evidence + Knox acting stupid to put her away, and people have been jailed for far less in the US and Canada

I have followed this quite a bit because my sister is in Italy on exchange now and she has been telling me the kind of stuff that has been going on over there. But based on the whole lying about where she was and everything else I think she did it.
