Taber AB bans swearing and public assembly at police discretion
Just read this article and wow, I can't see this lasting too long. Also a curfew was added for teenagers and new ramifications for graffiti.

I knew that Taber wasn't exactly a progressive place, but I didn't think that they were this backwards.
I'm far from a libertarian type, but I don't think that the police should be left to decide that your gaggle of 3 people MIGHT become loud, and break you up preemptively. I'm no lawyer, but it certainly seems that this is unconstitutional. Surely Taber has a lawyer to read this stuff over before they embarrass themselves, right?

This is goddamn ridiculous. And if someone doesnt want to pay their outrageous fines?
Lambert is right, this is embarrassing. Banning swearing? What year are they living in?
Not to mention, an initial fine of $2500 for graffiti? That punishment seems to vastly outweigh the crime.
What idiot drafted these moronic bylaws and thought this was going to go well? They should string that idiot up, apparently he seems to be cool with fairly draconian punishments.
