This is....odd? Older, slow, no real upside? Just a tryout, nothing to get worked up about. Just seems odd.

Not entirely sure why. He's too slow to be of much use to us.

This came out of nowhere! Will be interested to see how he does. I am assuming he will have to go through waivers to get assigned if he ends up making good on his tryout.

Are we that desperate? He might be serviceable, but is the confidence in the guys we have that low?

Really liked him with San Jose, was tough as nails. But I don't think he's an upgrade on anyone currently with the club.

this has probably been mentioned before, but my memory is terrible.

can we add non-roster players after the trade deadline? are they allowed to play in the playoffs?

PS : I wonder if this means Smid is done for the year.

PS 2 : holy crap Douglas Murray's head is huge

Yeah, but it's like a $12 cab ride just to get around the guy.
Plus his skating makes me think that I could be an NHLer some day.

Pull the trigger Treliving!!!

Hey, everything else the organization has done this year has made no apparent sense and worked anyway. Why stop now?

Weird time of year for this to be happening. Schlemko is fitting in well and both Potter and Wotherspoon can fill in for depth. Is someone injured (besides Giordano obviously)?

Murray was a pretty mean defenseman a few seasons ago I guess and it is an element this team could use, but he seemed to miss a step the past couple of seasons.

I don't think it has much to do with confidence as it has to do with having extra D corps.

I think it's just a guy to practice with. And if the Flames clinch a playoff spot early he can get a game or two to rest someone.

(or if someone gets hurt)

They must have not liked what they saw out of Potter.

IF he makes the team I see this as a move just to eat some minutes so that if the flames do make the playoffs the defence is not completely burnt out going into the first round.

He cant play in the post season anyways.
