Default Ribeiro cleans up his act

http://espn.go.com/nhl/story/_/id/12...ille-predators

Pretty open and honest article on his descent into substance abuse, womanizing and his road back

Odd that they failed to even mention he's being sued by his former nanny for physical and sexual assault...

Maloney had called the center to ask if he'd be willing to accept a trade. Ribeiro said no. And a short while later the GM called back to say they were buying him out.
"It was a very short conversation," Ribeiro said.
"I didn't expect it. I was hoping for a second chance there," Ribeiro said. "I really wanted a chance to redeem myself there."
That trade was with Calgary, apparently.

Civil case, instead of criminal, makes it somewhat less credible, imo, but no less sensational.
Would kind of ruin a 'feel good' story though.

On topic.. As a person I hope he gets his stuff together. As a hockey player screw him I've never liked his antics on the ice.

It is always good to hear that people can get clean and climb out of a dark hole when dealing with depression. I hope he has a good career and stays on the right track.

Thanks for posting this story, it is interesting that the flames were interested in him. Imagine having that 12th overall and Ribeiro? I wonder what it would have taken from our side of things. Who knows, maybe he helps lead the way here too.

I am happy it didn't happen however, I don't think Monahan would have had the same responsibilities and wouldn't have developed like he has this season. I am glad he didn't waive his no NTC to come here.

From what I remember, I think the speculation at the time was that the Flames were going to immediately by him out. I may be wrong though

Womanizing? He often looked like he didn't have the strength to get out of bed in the morning.
