I already did, I traded a 3rd round pick and a 3rd round prospect for a better player in 65OV Brad Stuart, and that was the very first GM I contacted. All I am saying is that there are better deals out there if you would take the time to check around I am confident you will find one.
Good for you. Had conversations with 3 other gms and no one was willing to make a trade for anything around what you just got. Great trade Dave, glad it worked out for you.

Nothing strange about it but not genius either , you traded 2.58M and a 4th for a 2nd round pick.....
I might be alone in this, but I actually think that's a great deal for a rebuilding team. Its basically a 4th for a 2nd because the cap is useless to him this year anyway. Its also a good add for the Sens, and a good trade for both really.

Is there really a big difference between trading a 3rd and a 3rd round prospect and trading a 2nd. I don't know which picks these are specifically but they seem like very similar deals.

Yes but I don't just brush off the cap like it's nothing... it is something and has just as much a part of the deal as anything else
I just laugh when someone says the cap is useless because if someone would like to send me 3M useless cap as nothing I'll gladly accept but I highly doubt I need to check my team page for any trades

I know what you mean here, and if it was September I would agree. In all honesty though Colorado is done for the season, so they might as well trade every dollar of cap and it makes no difference to them. The value of that cap to a team playing out the string with 7-8 games to go isn't nearly as much (effectively zero IMO).
Values of these things aren't static through the season, and the CPHL is obviously very different from the NHL. For example, realistically if a team makes the playoffs and has no hope of winning the cup (Dallas), then they might as well blow it up (bye, bye filthy Phil). You're playing four games in the post-season whether you keep all those guys or not, so you might as well collect a bunch of assets and move them out of town before the deadline. Its a game and players won't get their feelings hurt and there are no fans to disappoint who won't buy tickets to next season. I contemplated that strategy, but like I say that is for teams that won't be winning the cup.
