Another fantastic article. Getting to the point where there should be a sticky thread for the The Players Tribune.

That article really makes me respect Scott Gomez a lot more than I did. Great read

Thats a great article and as someone who mercilessly unloaded on Gomez while he struggled I can easily say I have a new-found respect for him.

Really good insight. Lou Lamiorello is one of those old-timey mobsters who has this decorum of professionalism and respect on some completely unique level.

Really great read.

I am also on board of making a sticky with this website. Every single article I've read on here hasn't disappointed me.

Thanks for posting the link, this was a really good read. I'll echo others, in that I've got some more respect for both Gomez and Lou now.

Scott's got a great story. I remember watching him play when he was on the Rangers and he really uses the ice surface well. In that game he went end to end against the Oilers 2 or 3 times.

What really jumps out to me though is the impact Lou Lamoriello has on his players - this isn't the first player to publicly praise Lou as a mentor/father-figure. I guess it's a bit of a feel-good story in that the media tends to focus on the management vs. union storyline however most of the time the management is there to support the players and vice versa.

Great story. That site just keeps bringing great content. Easily one of the better sports related sites to come out in a while.

Great article by Gomez, but one thing bothered me a bit. He doesn't seem to want to take responsibility for his long stretch of poor play. I mean, when it doesn't work out on 3 different teams maybe there's more to it than how you're being utilized.

I really started to struggle when Montreal employed a dump-and-chase approach. I’ll be the first to admit that I’m not that kind of player. If you give me minutes on a line with guys who move the puck, I can help a team win hockey games. But if I’m getting limited minutes on the fourth line in a system that requires me to grind against the boards, I simply won’t be my best. And that’s extremely frustrating. Anyone who has ever been in a work environment where they feel their talents aren’t being properly utilized can probably relate.

Sure enough, I had the same troubles in San Jose that I did in Montreal. Fantastic team, great organization but I just didn’t fit well with the style of play.

My next stop was with the Panthers, and that’s about when things really started to bottom out for me. I knew pretty early on in training camp that it wasn’t going to work out.
