Default Flames missing "garbage" goals?

The recent drop in Flames' scoring on our road trip had me wondering what's going on with our offense. A couple of things came to mind:
  • It looks like our offense has been scouted pretty well at this point and our stretch break-out passes and neutral zone drop passes are getting picked off.
  • We don't often get set up in the offensive zone which limits our chances to score to opportunities generated off the rush
  • Who's getting our garbage goals this year?
The last point I think is an area where the team really could really improve. Perhaps my understanding of the game was crippled by years of crapulence in the late 90's early 2000's where it seemed the only type of goals (except for Iggy) we tried for were dump-and-chase-crash-the-net-anything-can-happen goals, but I can't shake the feeling that if we could recapture some of that playing style it would do a lot to help us get into the playoffs, especially when we haven't been great at defending two-goals leads as of late.

Anyone seeing the same thing? What are your thoughts on our offense this season?

I didn't look-up any stats, but obviously at the start of the year we were getting an insane amount of production from the blue line.

Seems like that has fallen off. And will probably stay fallen off without Gio.

Although that was a nice assist by Brodie !!

That winning goal the last time the Flames played Boston was pretty much a garbage goal.

need some size in front of that net. Wait till Bennett starts crashing it next year

Would luv to see Ferland and Colborne spend a little more time in front of that net

They are also missing breakaway goals! I think they are about 0 for their last 50 breakaways

No question. Both goals the Flyers scored (plus the disallowed one) were of the garbage variety. Wondering why the Flames don't try planting Colbourne or Bouma in front of the crease on the PP more often.

Mad bones jones can score some garbage too. Also he's got pretty good hand eye from what I can see.

I think the problem is that we are trying to score too many garbage goals... primarily on the PP.

Our PP has become old and pedantic and predictable...

Cycle the puck, pass it to the point, the points pass it back and forth two or three times, and then they shoot which usually results in a missed shot or a blocked shot.

Rinse... repeat.
