Pens have interest in Flames d-man (Russell?)
Millions on Sportsnet saying Pens have inquired on a Flames D but not sure who
Pens beat writer saying it is Kris Russell
Jason Mackey @Mackey_Trib
Hearing interest from Penguins on Flames D Kris Russell. Well-liked in Calgary, though, and team might not want to move him.

The return would be big, especially because we could easily turn his 2.6M into a 1.3M cap-hit for the Cap-strapped Pens.
1st + one of their high end youngsters on the blue line...and at that stage, I think we'd need to look at it.

The Flames would be stupid to trade Russell. Brad hangs up as soon as his name is spoken.

The 1st would have to be next year. IIRC they traded their first to Oilers for Perron.

I still say no. This group has played their hearts out this year, what kind of message do you send if you trade Russell because the playoff push is over if you move him.

Pens already traded their first. Unless you are talking 2016, and then I'm not interested.

No to trading Russel. Unless the return is very good.

Engelland 50% retained, Pens familiar with him and can get a 3rd!

It would have to be an overpayment. The only problem that I have with Russell is his lack of size and that is a problem with our defense as a whole. Harrington and Dumoulin would help in the size department.
It would really depend on what the details would be.

I was thinking Harrington + 2nd might do the trick myself. Pouliot would work as well.

1st plus Dumolin seems like a good deal. See if you could milk an extra pick out of them for this year's draft as well. 1st in 2016, a 3rd in 2015, and Dumolin would make me move Russell and similar to what the Flyers got for Coburn.

I don't see this being plausible unless the return was Pouliot and Bennett (RW).

Russell for 2016 first rounder and Derrik Pouliett.
That's the minimum I'd trade him for. Russell is as close to untouchable as you can get.
Engel land for 2016 second rounder +. Not sure what draft picks the Pens have still but maybe 2015 third rounder as well. If they don't have that, then 2016 third rounder will do
