Default Fitness tracker - which one???

I am looking at getting a fitness tracker and wanted to get the forums opinion on the ones you recommend.

I am currently looking at the Basis B1.
Its got tons of data available but its a bit clunky and has a minimum wear time (four days before recharge is required)

I want to get a tracker that gives me data on calories burned, heart rate, activity monitor...you know the usual.

Any thoughts?

Don't buy a fitbit unless you want quality problems. I've had a fitbit flex and went through three bands in a year and the force itself separated into two parts because of faulty glue.

I got my wife a jawbone up24 for her birthday and she absolutely loves it. Not sure it has all the functionality you are looking for, but I am seriously considering one for myself

Used my fitbit once. Hard to put on. Hard to turn it on.

MapMyRun works for me.

the wife and i both have the jawbone up and have used them for almost a year. both have broken once; my wife got hers replaced and i am mid process to replace mine.

i have been using a borrowed nike band and while i like the cool graphics it is nowhere as useful as the jawbone for me.

finally, it really worked for me. i lost a few unnecessary pounds.

The Fitbit is good (the "One"). If you log in to the website and configure your stride length, weight, etc. then you get pretty accurate numbers. I have compared the distance calculated next to my wife's Garmin Forerunner watch and they were very close. The plus side is also that the battery lasts about 2 weeks, whereas my wife's Forerunner needs frequent charging. To get the best benefit out of the Forerunner you need the foot pod and heart rate strap; not really convenient for daily use.

The website is also syncs nicely with MyFitnessPal, which is great if you're keeping track of calories in / out. Not that the calories calulated by steps / floor is going to be that accurate. I find that the step counter does a poor job while on a treadmill. Might just be the particular motion is different than running normally.

I have the Fitbit One. I had the Nike Fuel Band, but it wore out after a year and I really never liked having a band on my wrist. I liked the concept of the fuel points. Also battery life was sucky, and charging it was challenging.

With the Fitbit One (in my pocket) it gives me steps fairly accurately and does a good job of how many sets of stairs you climb. Website is okay. Fitbit app worked better on my Iphone than my Android (it seems to take a few goes to synch). Charging the Fitbit One seems to last for about two weeks.

Wife has the Withings Pulse which works well, and actually works with our Withings Scale. It has a touch interface, also does altitude measuring, and also has a heart rate monitor (and easily can do sleep monitoring as well.

I have a fitbit flex and love it. I want to get something like it for my wife but she has a smaller Samsung phone (not a Galaxy S3 or above) and I've heard they don't support wireless sync. To me that kills the value prop. Any suggestions for a good tracker that works with Android devices?

Because of the way Android handles low energy bluetooth, you are limited to later Android devices/manufactures, as far as I know. It's one of the only things Android has really dropped the ball on.
I love my fitbit one as well, but it tracks pretty simple stuff - and nothing like everything the OP is looking for.

Wait for the Fitbit Charge HR. Another month or so until it's available, if you need the heart rate functionality.

Have the fitbit one and it's good if you don't want to wear a band,as you can slip the device easily into a pocket. Decent features, good app, all you can ask for a general tracker. Layer on HR monitoring and should be a pretty compete setup.

i just got the up24 - only had it for a few hours but from reviews it's a bit more accurate than the fitbit - plus the sleep mode aspects are far better than most other on the market (also it's on sale for $99 instead of 139 at futureshop right now)

it keeps track of your sleep cycles and lets you know how your sleep was and good or bad, will even try to give you indications of when to go to sleep. Another function I got it for was the wake up alarm where you can set a time, and a cushion where it will wake you at your lightest sleep, based off rem cycles.

Has anyone used one of these with heart rate monitoring? I want to know how accurate they are compared to a strap. I'd rather wear one of these on my wrists but not if they don't give a true reading.
