Flames recall Wotherspoon
Elliotte Friedman @FriedgeHNIC
Flames have recalled Tyler Wotherspoon. Still more testing for Giordano -- but they are bracing for an absence.
Treliving on the 960 says they are still going through the process of determining length of the injury.

Certainly not a good sign, but it's also the safe thing to do even if Gio is good to go.

I see it as hes a game time decision but it cant hurt to have Wotherspoon here if Gio cant go.

Gut check time
All good teams should be able to withstand injuries to key members...
I guess this will give us an idea of how the rebuild is really going

I don't think this stretch will be any more or less real than the rest of the season so far.

Unless there is a tweet following that says Granlund, Poirier or Ferland has been demoted, then this is not a game time decision. The only other way we can call Wotherspoon up is Gio to IR.

It'll be too bad if Gio is injured but lets just remember that most thought this year was going to be a train wreck of a year and we've played competitive hockey all year. Gio will probably still be in the running for the Norris anyway as he's been awesome and we still might make the playoffs. Seeing Spoon play more (if needed) will be a bonus for us, and it'll be good to see how he plays down the stretch for the Flames when important games are on the line.

He could be called up unofficially; it's only a short drive away.

I'm not worried, the team will pull together and T spoon will play so well he will take a spot for the rest of the season and playoffs!

I could be forgetting someone, but I don't believe they've replaced Raymond on the roster. Granlund and Wolf traded places, then Ferland and Poirier were brought up when Byron went on IR and Stajan was given a leave of absence. If Raymond is also on a LOA, that opens a roster spot for Wotherspoon, I believe.

Not likely. Friedmann and Nearhos aren't saying "he's driving to Long Island, just in case." They are saying, authoritatively, that he has been recalled.
Nearhos is also saying that Addy has recalled a player from Colorado. I would say it is a very safe bet that Gio is on IR. Now we just pray that it is for the minimum time and he only misses a couple games.

Yep I agree, Flames have 13 active forwards 8 dman (counting Wotherspoon) and 2 goalies
IR; Smid and Bryon
None Roster; Stajan and Raymond.

Hmm, true. They might leave Raymond on Leave for tonight (unless he is in New York already, probably not getting there anyway), so that could clear them for one game.
