Former 2010 1st round pick (6th overall) who just hasn't produced yet at the NHL level but has produced at the AHL level. Good deal for Tampa getting 2 2nd's for him and for Boston maybe he can pick up his NHL scoring in a change of scenery.

Obviously the proposals, Glencross for Connolly weren't terrible in terms of value.

I'd have paid that for Connolly. Young enough to risk two picks on. Could be a great fit with Pasternak moving forward.

That seems like alot of the future to give away for Connolly.
Boston is going to need those draft picks with an aging team.

Connollys only 22. Worth the risk. Lots of RFA years left.

Blargh heck no. Connolly is not an upgrade on Sven at this stage.
Connolly:
NHL: 32 Pts in 134 GP (.24 PPG)
Baertschi:
NHL: 28 Pts in 66 GP (.42 PPG)

Tampa now has two 1st's and two 2nd round picks all the while sitting 2nd in their division. Damn.
Would love for Treliving to pry another 2nd before the deadline is over.

And didn't have to deal anyone of significance to get them.
Edit: as in, not breaking up what is working

Pretty sure that's not true. The first deal involved Martin St. Louis.

Sorry, I clarified. I meant there sitting where they are now and didn't have to deal anyone of large significance from what is clearly a very good team.
Most teams have to significantly dismantle to get that kind of haul

I wouldn't have spent the two 2nds on Connolly due to the fact the Flames are already deep with young forwards. If Connolly was a similarly talented D-man, then maybe.

The draft picks are the Bruins' natural second round pick in 2015 and the natural second round pick in 2016

I could see Connolly working well with Boston. Good fit.
Not sure about value?

I like this deal from Boston's perspective quite a bit.
I think Tampa really hurt Connolly's early development, in addition to his injury, but he still has potential to be something. I'd bet on Connolly over two later seconds.

I agree. I think Connolly has more upside than 2 2nds. I wouldn't want to trade Sven for that return.
