In a deal that came together pretty fast tonight the Nashville Predators and Pittsburgh Penguins swapped four players and a prospect:
To Pittsburgh
Brent Burns
Zach Parise
Jake Virtanen
To Nashville
Duncan Keith
Wayne Simmonds
Basically I really wanted to add Keith and as soon as I saw there was a chance he was on the block I sent a message to try to make it happen. I had put Burns on the block a few weeks ago and didn't really get a compelling offer there. The Parise/Simmonds swap was sort of an after-thought to make the cap work which is funny considering they're both good players. I love Parise; and really didn't want to move him, but you have to give to get. I think that this is a pretty fair deal all around as there are some gains/losses on each side and Virtanen looks like a good prospect.
Thanks to Goffie for the fast deal and hopefully it works out for both of us!
Still not 100% sold on moving Keith. But I was in the mood to make a change and I really like the way that Burns is playing in the NHL.
In the sim I have been a two horse team and I needed to add scoring depth. Parise is a star player in his prime and in all honesty I did not want to move Simmonds. It came down 100% to two things. Sim performance as I am adding more scoring and Parise's DF rating. We are hoping he gives us more versatility up front.
Hopefully it works for both teams. If not I will always just make another trade.
