Default Dustin Byfuglien.... Hart candidate?

A lot of talk has been thrown around this year how there is no real front runner for the Hart. But is there any other player out there that has had more impact and game breaking moments than Byfuglien this year?

It seems every Jets highlight pack has him making a huge hit, scoring a huge goal, or just straight up dominating players off the puck. How many guys in the league are both a top notch power forward, and a Norris caliber d-man? If you are judging the Hart, on how valuable a player is to his team this season, I don't think you can overlook him. He has been a straight up stud this year.

In before cool story bro..... but I think he is the most under rated player in the league right now.

I think it will be tough to beat Carey Price. Montreal is Edmonton without him.

Carey Price
John Tavares
Alex Ovechkin
Rick Nash
Tyler Seguin
Pat Kane

Those are guys off the top of my head I pick over Buff.

Even for the Norris I think you look at Weber, Gio, and maybe PK ahead of him.

I would say the guy that compares nicely with Buff though is Burns in SJ.

I don't think he can be considered for the Norris because he has been forward and back all year, but the guy just brings so many intangibles in my eyes. Outside of Price, most the guys you listed are gonna give you the pretty goals, and put up points, but throw them back on D for 10 games, and I don't think they would be terribly impressive. Also, I think injuries might take Seguin and Kane out of the running now. Either way, I might be smoking dope holding Buff to such high acclaim, but man what a luxury it must be to have a player that can be plugged in anywhere, and excel.

Great season so far, and I'd have him on my team in a heartbeat, but no.

It's Carey Price's to lose right now.

If Minnesota gets into the playoffs, Devan Dubnyk should get some consideration.

And I am not kidding.

Goaltenders don't win it much, but my Hart vote would be Carey Price. The Habs are a bubble team without him.

These posts sum it up for me perfectly. Carey Price will and should win it barring him falling apart.

But if this was forwards only, he would be a front runner imo. The man has had a monster season and is a juggernaut for us this year. But he wont win.

Byfuglien went through a stretch of 10-20 games where the Jets were missing Enstrom, Trouba, Stuart and Bogosian

His Defense partner was Ben Chairot who when he joined Buf as the Flames #1 defensive pairing had about 10 NHL games. The next best d-man on the team was Jay Harrison.

The Jets won enough games to stay in the playoff race.

It was an amazing feat..

Maybe Carey Price could keep the Habs in contention without Subban and Markov in the Line up but Buf actually did it.

Right now I would think that Doughty would be leading the pack for the Norris and maybe the Hart. He has carried the team through injuries and missing Voynov for the whole season.

29:29 TOI is amazing.... more than 4 minutes a game more than Gio and Gio plays on the team with a very very weak 5/6.

Yeah, it's tough to argue with Carey Price, but I have to agree that Buff should definitely be a contender.

At the start of the season I picked Buff to win the Conn Smythe... but that's because I picked the Jets to win the Stanley Cup.

Considering that the league leaders in points right now all share the lead with 64pts in 61 games, that brings them to an ~86pts pace. Other then lockout years, what's the lowest total in the expansion era for an Art Ross winner? That's just brutal. This is the perfect year for a goalie or defenseman to win the Hart and it will be very disappointing if a forward takes it home.

Is that guy Byfuglien? Probably not. Giordano will probably have a few votes if the Flames make the playoffs. Price IMO is the front runner. That guy is on another level right now.

Buff threw Kane's track suit in the shower. He's #1 in my book...

Not sure why Price is getting so much love. He's having a great year, but:

1) Look at where Nashville was in the standings last year without Rinne.

2) Look at Rinne's numbers this season.

3) Look at Nashville in the standings this season (hint: 1st overall).

4) Award Rinne the Hart Trophy.

Price will win, but Buff has played both top pairing defense with an AHL call up and been an allstar, as well as top 6 forward due to injuries. He has taken his game to a level I haven't seen before. Considering the almost daweekly injuries to Jets key players, he's been the glue that's kept them together... and some pretty good photo bombs.
