Good way to simplify the system. Only one type of 30 km/h zone, effective 365 days a year, from 7:30 to 21:00.

This has already happened in my neighborhood. No radar, but definitely made me do a double take as it happened without any warning.
This, and the changing of the time the zones were in effect, seems to have used fearmongering to solve a problem that never existed. Everyone seemed to understand the zones and the timing just fine.

Yeah radar income must be down. Considering the playground zones go until 8:30 (which is stupid in the winter, what kids are at a playground past dark) this is just another cash grab by our money grubbing council.

As long they don't keep the school zone signs there I guess I don't have a problem with it. As an example, for some reason in Medicine Hat they kept the school zone signs around even though they've already made every one of them a playground zone as well. It just seems silly to sign them as both at that point.
Better than trying to remember when summer holidays for schools is happening, anyways.

I live next to a year-round school, so I already have to suffer through this, especially since the 9 pm time change.
I always have people tailgating me through and trying to swerve around me at 8pm, but I've seen cops sitting at the end of the zone around that time.

I believe the current system says 1 hr after sunset.
Do you know when "sunset" is on any given day?
While 1 hr after sunset might be easy to understand it is a moving target that is not easy to hit.

The elementary school near me is a ghost town after 3 pm and all summer long. Never mind that there is a giant chain link fence that keeps them from running on to the road anyway. Now I get to slow down for nothing.

Ha, some dolt behind me yelled "its the GD summer" recently when I was driving 30 through a playground zone. I don't like changing everything to playground zones, but a lot of people are just too stupid to have two zones.
