The Jets and Blue Jackets have made a trade:
To Jackets:
Jarrett Stoll
To Winnipeg:
Chris Bigras
2015 2nd (cbj)
Eric Tangredi
The Columbus Blue Jackets have been searching for an upgrade for the 3rd line C and have known all year that it was a team weakness. As much as we like Colbourne, Zibanejed and Wilson, they just are not ready yet to be that solid C we need. Stoll is a champion.
We inquired about guys like Guastad (personal favorite and nice cap hit), Peverly, Ott and Stoll. The Bruins did not want to move Guastad because he is their 1st line C, Cheese has no cash to send in a deal so that was a deal breaker, so it came down to Ott and Stoll. The asking price was practically the same but at the end of the day Hesla and the Jets were more inclined to make the deal and we would prefer Stoll over Ott by a little because we have some options with him as he is not a UFA, Ott is.
Jarrett Stoll will help win important face offs, be a solid 3rd line C and is expected to see some time on the PK...the Jackets have a top 5 CPHL PP in the CPHL but the PK is in the bottom 5. Stoll should help.
The Jackets are still interested in upgrading the lineup as we get closer to the playoffs.
