For those not fluent with jersey numbers, that means

Hiller
Russell
Giordano
Wideman
Brodie
Backlund
Bouma
Jones
Monahan
Hudler

were not at practice.

I'd have thought 13 wouldn't be there either as this is his first full 82 game schedule...I hope they're looking after his maintenance properly.

Derek Wills @Fan960Wills
Curtis Glencross practiced with #Flames today but has been ruled out by Head Coach Bob Hartley for tomorrow's game vs. #Penguins.

Isn't there some sort of veteran expectation/old tradition where it's a sign of disrespect if a healthy rookie takes an optional skate off?

I would think they are. Why wouldn't they?

Yup, taking an optional practice off is earned, not given.

Truly Curtis, they don't need you. Take your sweet time.

Wasn't taking a shot at you. It was an honest question because I thought I had heard that 'tradition' before and wasn't sure.

And no, Monahan's not a veteran, but he's also not a rookie. I'm sure he went through the same thing last year.

That list of players not on the ice, looks like mostly maintenance days.

Except for that guy Hudler. Always causing trouble, starting things that he can't finish. I'll bet he's just driving from house to house in his camry, playing drums in peoples garages.

Any of the Flames players show up to a team meeting in a track suit?

FWIW it looks like they got a couple numbers messed up; Monahan definitely skated today. No Bennett, and Wolf was out on the bench for a bit but not skating. That's all I can remember off the top of my head.

Baertschi and Granlund were both sent back to the AHL after practice, assuming they were there. One last practice then back to game time?
