Ryan Suter a Blue Jacket
We it took several days, many painful hours of negotiations, but Ryan Suter is finally a Columbus Blue Jacket. The deals breaks down like this:
To Columbus:
Ryan Suter
Eric Tangredi
2015 3rd
To St. Louis:
Dion Phaneuf
Nino Niederreiter
Alex Tuch
The Jackets have been after a top end D for awhile now and after reflecting on the season thus far, management decided that with a couple of upgrades this team might be able to compete in the playoffs vs some of the other top teams.
Ryan Suter was ecstatic after hearing the news that he would be playing for one of the best teams in the East and leaving the loser Blues:
"It's a dream come true to go to a team with such a handsome GM who is more intelligent than everyone else. I am looking forward to actually winning some hockey games. "
Suter joins a veteran D with the likes of Markov and Boyle who have been steady all season long.
Thanks to Ryan for the trade and finally caving into my demands.

I like Nino but Suter to dion downgrade is kind of gross, IMO of course.

Huge steal for the jackets IMO. Dion sucks, and is way overrated in general. Nino is good, but basically a second liner at best. That's a lot of weighting on Tuch. In exchange for that a franchise dman.

I can't speak for others, but I was, in no way, complaining about the deal. I was simply giving feedback on the trade - that's still permitted right? Or just bitching?

I don't think the test of whether it's a good deal i
s whether I offered enough. Maybe I wasn't in the running for whatever reason, but MJK still pulled one over here.

I think its pretty safe to say that Suter told management he wanted to go to a winner like the Jackets.
Nashville will start a rebuild anyday now.

Nashville sucks and the BJs blow. The polar opposites of the CPHL I guess!

The rationale from the Blues was that of depth and scoring. I am the 2nd lowest scoring team in the CPHL and no combination of my lines really seem to be fixing that. Dion is a downgrade yes, but in my opinion from a #1 to a #2 and picking up a 2nd line forward to help try and salvage some scoring was a decision I decided to try my hand at.
Phaneuf and Suter are similar aged and with my current unseccussful set up im really not going to pull myself out of the basement with either guy so I ended up getting at least some more parts. I think Dion is a fairly controversial defenseman but I am of the opinion he is still a low end #1/high end #2.
After moving Voracek for Fabbri, Nelson and Murray earlier in the season, the writing had been on the wall that i was trying to bring in youth and make a short term push for a year or two down the road along with my two draft picks i own this season. I didnt expect everyone to love the return I'd gotten, but I am happy with it myself as someone who has toiled at the bottom for both seasons, even after bringing in bigger named players, including adding Pietrangelo last year. In the end, Suter has twice led me to a bottom 5 team, holding on to him for namesake seems to be spinning my wheels.

Good post DropIt. I think the Sharks mirror the problems you are having and I find myself over valuing/holding on to players that just aren't getting it done. I admire your courage to make a big hockey deal and part with a guy like Suter. Lot of people standing around this season with their 'mouse' in their hands (myself included) while their team sucks.
I think it is an immediate win for Columbus, just because Suter is an absolute stud. But this move could really help the Blues down the road, time will tell. Tuch is an interesting asset that seems to almost be thrown in there. Big Right Wingers are usually given a pretty good shot at a NHL career.
Dion is Dion in real life, but the sim doesn't recognize ###### bags (or else it might not let me sim? Heyooooooo) and he will still be able to fill those same minutes. On top of that you got a good young top 6 forward. I think peoples hatred for Dion is really clouding their judgement on this one.
