Heightism in the world
After my recent late growth spurt i've been reading up a lot on heightism (yes it is an actual think, look it up) and discovered that short men really get ragged on a lot. Some of the stuff that women post on twitter makes me cringe:
These people are judging someone on something they can't control. If it was a bunch of guys saying that they prefer skinny women or a girl with D cups they would get ridiculed like crazy. I guess it mostly has to do with society implanting into people's brain that taller = better. I was just wondering what people on here think of this and if the shorter guys on the forum have ever had any disadvantages when it comes to dating or life in general.

That's not a women thing, it's a people thing. People generally suck and lack empathy/decency.

I know, it's total injustice. Men never judge women on physical characteristics. What a bunch of hypocritical b****es.

And yet I'm thinking most of these women would get quite offended if a man mocked, or even just pointed out, physical features on their bodies they felt to be unattractive.

It is part of this materialistic world we live in. Both sides are guilty, yet both sides are supported.

I think it's equally ridiculous when either sex says "men/woman are all......". It's just so stupid, there's crappy men and women and amazing men and women.

You are using Twitter/Internet as a base, and well the internet, and especially twitter has so many ignorant judgemental people so it's not really surprising to find people tweet things like that. But yeah heightism is definitely a thing, as a 5'9 male I've experienced it first hand and had insecurities about it growing up from friends, women, etc. Some people get over it, and for some it gives them a huge chip on their shoulder where you can't even hint at them being short without them snapping at you.
Fortunately, I don't really care anymore. Being quick witted and laid back helps for sure. But it goes both ways. Hell, I know certain women who hate tall men, finds them creepy she said, everyone has different opinions/tastes on literally everything.

People actually make fun of your height at 5'9"? I was the same height as you from 17 up to last year (I'm 20 now) and I was never called short once during that time frame.
EDIT: changed the thread title to something more appropriate.

Oh yeah, come from a tall town I suppose. Had a previous roommate when I was in University who would openly talk about how he hates short people, etc. Total meathead type.
Just the way the world is, people are quick to judge others based on anything, or even nothing.

Yeah. I was 5'9" all through highschool. In September I was measured at 5'10 on the dot and I recently measured myself at exactly 5'10 ¼" (thought I was 5'11' but I measured it wrong at first ) Had my mom help with the measurement to make sure it was accurate and it was. I think i'm pretty much done now.

I'm 20 as well. Good to know there is still a small chance a late growth spurt. I'm 5'10", and I feel short sometimes when I'm at school (lots of tall people), but feel decently tall/normal anywhere else.
Everyone definitely has their own preferences for physical attributes that they desire, but that doesn't mean they hate anyone who doesn't fit their criteria. People who do (like kids on twitter) are ignorant and don't represent the majority here. I've never heard anyone openly say that they hate short people.

I'm not as tall as your average bear. Biggest issue I've ever run into is trying to piss in the urinals in Holland. Stand back and arc it in

If you ever feel insecure about your height, make a goal to travel to Asia. I've never felt taller than when I was in Thailand

5'9 to 5'10 counts as a spurt?? I don't know if i'd have noticed.
I am 5'9 and now insecure that you are an inch taller though
